Torco Racing Fuel

For those of us in N.Cal who don't have easy access to 93+ octane gasoline, Torco Racing Fuel - Mach Accelerator may be an alternative.

According to the distributor in S.Cal, his "rough" estimate of octane rating, if you add 16 oz's (1/2 a can) of Accelerator to 13 gallons of 91 octane, you will increase your octane rating to about 93.5.

That works out to an extra $.69 per gallon, above the price of 91 octane fuel for 13 gallons. Last time I checked, the cost of a 32 oz can was $17.83.

I am posting this because I am trying to figure out a way to run 93 octane fuel in Pleasanton, CA. I have my eye on the Xede.

When/if you make an appointment, bring the Torco. We'll test its effects on the dyno. It has worked in the past on Evos/Subys. It'll be interesting to see what kind of gains there are with the 335i.

I don't know of anyone who sells it up here, but here is the distributor I used:

Our Distributors in California, USA
Joel Feingold- Accelerator- (310)613-5746 www.jbsblownc5.net

I use the product in my 68 Camaro. It keeps the motor from pinging.

Shiv - I would be happy to do the test with and without Torco when I buy the Xede. I won't be ready to by the Xede for a couple of months. If you're ok with it, I will drop off a can at your shop. If you have someone who wants to try it before I am ready, go for it.

Thanks Rick. I found the information on their corporate website and also see I can order directly from them. Also found a listing on Ebay for them! I have an appointment with Vishnu on the 20th and was planning on bringing a 5 gallon barrel of 100 octane but may bring a bottle of the Torco additive as well.

Shiv, is there anyway to store three maps onto the Xede? Now that Rick has brought this to my attention, originally I wanted to have you tune a map for the 91 octane and one for 100 but now I'm being greedy and want the 93 also

If you guys are worried about warranty, you may not want to use torco. It turns everything in the combustion tract orange. BRIGHT orange.

Also, the XEDE only holds two maps at once, if you want a third map, you would have to have it saved on your laptop and load it up when you want to use it.

WOW, That's good to know. Guess I'm sticking to buying 100 octane and mixing it with 91 to get 93... ...

Interesting information about the combustion chamber turning orange. I will shoot an email to Torco and find out why it turns and if there is an easy way to chemicially clean it out before taking the car to a dealer.

I read so many posts commenting on the fuel's quality. Why have you so low-octane gasoline in US ? Its a surprise to me

The standard unleaded gasoline on my territory is 95 Octane and I always use Unleaded Plus witch is 98 Octanes.

The last time I filled the car, I used a gasoline indicating "Unleaded Plus 100" but it didnt make any difference to me (I think)

We also have Shell & Mobil gas-stations but I cannot understand why we have high octane engine here and you dont.

(maybe thats the reason we pay for it-> 1.25US$ per Litre)

Here is a link to why European octane rating is higher

I may have to pass on the Torco additive, I hate the color orange.

Dustin, how would I swap out the different maps for the Xede?

I used Torco for years. 2 of my 3 Lightnings. I never had any warranty issues with it. In fact, I even had a Superchips in there with a Bassani exhaust and no one at the dealer cried. My guess is if you blew a motor for some odd reason, they would look into it further. But taking your car in for routine maintenance or minor issues, it will never be noticed.
