TSB Bucking 335i Coupe ?

Hello All! I remember reading somewhere that there is an identified issue with the new 335i where some cars "buck" during hard acceleration. I have been experiencing something similar to this since I got the car but I though it was just the way the car was.

If I am at a stop or slow rolling start (in sport mode) and accelerate hard, there is a rush of power, then the car drops back for a moment, then the power comes back VERY strong for the rest of the time.

Am I going crazy or has anyone else experienced this? If so, do you know of the TSB number so I can have it fixed at the dealer?

Thx!

What you experiencing sounds like the traction control. It cuts the power off you rear wheel so you wont spin the tires. That is always going to happen unless you hold your traction control buttom for 5-8 secs. If you do that then try it again, and i bet you will get alot and i mean alot of wheel spin, if you slam on it.

Speaking from experience,I use to drive a 650rwhp ford mustang cobra, and wheel spin could be alot of fun, but you will spend alot of your time at tirerack.com. Try to teach yourself the best way to take off on that car without bogging.

That is the same exact issue I had with my 325ci, I used to have it all the time specially in the traffic, and I took it to the dealer 3 times for the same issue and they could not repro the issue nor address it, so I finally gave up – I thought I was the only one with this problem :S …however with my new E92 so far I’ve had that happen to me once – I think it has to do with the adaptive transmission …sometimes it gets confused?

The TSB does not seem to describe what you felt, but I also have felt what you felt, only on a cold start though... I have never had any problems after the car is warm...

The bucking problem is just after a cold start. As others have said, the DTC will cut power if traction is lost as under hard acceleration until traction is regained. I had this happen a few nights ago, applying throttle in first.

Tires might be cold, by the way.
