McGard Socket slipping

Went to take my alloy off today and the socket for the McGard kept slipping off.I looked inside it and it looks warn
I only fitted 3 weeks ago and the nuts are hardly tight,so i aint over tightened them

Got it off by holding the socket in a upwards position

Going to take them off and take them back to halfords

Anyone else had issues?

I had some McGard wheel bolts on my last car.
They were rubbish! The security part just fell apart and I couldn't get them undone. I ended up taking it to a garage and the has to hammer an old socket onto it to get them off.
I've never bothered with then since.

I would take then back and get your money back.

I've never been impressed with the small 'key' area and construction of it on the McGards.......

I've just fitted a set of BMW supplied McGards and I agree that the key looks a bit flimsy, but what's the alternative?
All you can do is to apply adequate axial pressure to keep the key squarely seated and stick to the stipulated 120 NM torque figure.
