Remove 335i Speed Limiter

Hello...Once again I'm going nuts ,so I need your comments.

I have just completed my "Break-in" period and for first time after 3 weeks I own my car ,I really pushed the pedal to the metal

On my first attempt to exceed the 180km/h (I've never exceeded this speed until now) the car reached 230km/h within seconds.
On the next kick-down I saw my speedmeter indicating 260km/h!!!! :rocks:

Question:
i) I thought that the car's speed limiter was tuned to 250km/h. How did I reach 260?
ii) HOW CAN I REMOVE THE SPEED LIMITER??

PS: I'm sorry if an answer to this has been given already in the past and missed it.

260kmh on the speedo is 250kmh in real kilometres. Mine does it too.(Doh)

Dunno about the limiter though. I think it's capable of speeds of more than 270kmh...

Enjoy your car!

I have seen a spreadsheet which analyzes the maximum speed per gear.
The 6th Gear of a 335i without a limiter is 332km/h.

No idea mate..i guess not.
Judging from the quickness it gets to 250 (260 or whatever) the 332 doesnt look impossible to me.

you'd need like 500HP to break 323km/h in the 335i.

Given that my Porsche 928GT put down 280 to the rear wheel and topped at 175ish a/t the mags of the day and I'm guessing has a similar but slightly higher Cd (the most important factor in top speed along with power), I put the 335 at 170-175 mph unlimited or about 280 km/hr.

I definitely feel like it can go more than 280. Its gets to 250 so easyyyy
But if Shiv says "no" then i got to think it twice.

By the way , Shiv can you the remove the speed-limiter as well?

A modern 600CC sportbike will rip through the 1/4 mile in under 11 seconds...but top out in the 160-165 mph range.

Cd is to top speed what weight is to acceleration...

Emm, you need to check the rating of the tires. Often the speed limitation is a function of the tires, and not "some bull GOV. limit".

\Are you even reading??? I said that I dont like to be limited...I want to be able to go as fast as the car can...Dont worry about the tires, you just get someone to remove the speed limiter, I will buy tires to suit it nicely...

True but a 600cc bike is also HP limited for it's TopSpeed based on gearing NOT JUST Cd....

The governed top speed has nothing to do with some bull gov limit. It has to do with the manufacturer. The bull gov limit is called a speed limit.

In a way this is correct... but he does not specify something I would like to. The reason most BMWs and a lot of other german based cars are speed limited at 155 is due to an unofficial agreement among german car manufactuers. Most of them agreed to limit the speed to 155 due to not wanting the avg person to be able to hit the autobaun at higher speeds then that.

I would like to specify that Porsche has opted out of this agreement.
