Mph notification?

I havent seemed to find it in the manual, but is there an option on the 335i speedo that will notify you when your going over a certain mph?

Like an audible setting i can program so when i hit 100 mph it will tell me?

Do you have it turned off if your M6? One of the things that annoys me to no end is videos of guys in M5/6s driving really hard and that damn chime keeps going off. Pet peeve of mine.

Beautiful. I love the voice commands.

I'm probably the only one who uses it, but I do the same thing with "stopwatch." Goes right there. I'm not sure I could find it so easily without the voice command.

hehehe when I get one I will set it up to 150mph
there is not point to set it up below that...if you are a sane driver that enjoys driving and feels responsible, you will know your speed at all times. On the other hand, if you are a free floater, and just drive a BMW to show of to your co-workers....you will need more that na setting in the iDrive...IMO

you are not the only one. i actually wanted to start a poll on what people set their limit to.

but then i figured someone would have done that already and fellow posters would yell at me for not doing a search on the topic first.

anyways, i set mine at 85.

I have set it to 80 -- It goes off all the time but so far, I have resisted the temptation to bump it up.

I've had the car for a year and this is the first time I've had a car that long without getting a speeding ticket. So that alone pretty much pays for the navigation/iDrive.

Last ticket I got was $225 and I had to show up in court (for doing 87 in a 55)

I don't recall being told about the limit when I first picked up the car. Then, when driving home I got on the motorway where the speed limit was 70 mph. When I hit 71 the damned thing chimed and my second thought was "Oh, crap, the navigation system knows I'm on the motorway where the speed limit is 70. How do I shut this bloomin' thing off."

I change my limit daily. When I get to work where the speed limit is 15 I set it for 16 (compensates for the maladjusted speedometer). When I leave work I set it to 62. If I'm on a motorway I tell Rex to shut up and don't bother me. I love my iDrive (except when it crashes). BTW, Rex is the name of the car -- the last two letter of the registration are RX.

I have a similar one called 'My wife', and it starts at around 140KM/h (about 87 MPH).
She almost had a fit when I said I only got the car up to 210KM/h (a little over 130 MPH) during a recent business trip to Germany.

When finally get my 335 I will set it to 90, cuz I frequently find myself doing that in my M on the highway by accident and one day it will get me.

I've had it on 4 BMWs so far ('92 525i, '97 528i, '00 540i/6, '02 M5), all set to 43 MPH. If I'm driving around where I live & work on back roads, that's where the cops start getting unhappy. Getting onto the highway, it gongs once, but usually while I've got the motor revving, so I barely notice. It is, however, kinda cool to hear it gong on exit ramps....of course, only ramps that are posted above 45. Ahem.

How'd you get a gong? I got a wimpy chime.
