Does a 335i E92 drive different than an E90?

I test drove a 335i E90 (sedan) and was wondering if the coupe will be any different other than the interior?

haven't driven an e90 335i but when I drove the 330i it felt like it had a slightly softer ride. (both had sport suspension). Didnt really take the e90 to the limit but it felt very similar

As long as you have the same engine, suspension, and tires present, the difference will be minimal.

no difference at all. It is the same car +- some kilos...which is nothing. You wont be able to feel the difference.

Only difference I really felt other than the turbos was that the shifter and clutch were a lot looser, which is personal preference for what you like. I like a little more of a stiff shifter.

The e92 has a slightly more rigid body than the e90 but I doubt anyone other than track racing enthusiasts will notice the difference.

I test driven a 325i E92 in BMW Experience, basically it was handled exactly like the E90 but I could feel that it has different suspension system. I only need to pay 1K for a differenet set of suspension if all I want is a different feel. 335i suspension is designed and tuned up different than the 325i/328i E92. 335i should be much stiffer for catering the 40kg/m torque?

In the US, 335 and 328 suspension are the same.

Same here. I testdrove the E92 335i A demo model at my dealership and it had the sports suspension(just like my former 330 and my current 335 E90) and 19" RFTs instead of my former and current 18". The ride was softer than my former 330 and current 335 E90, more USA like I guess(biggest market).

There is some difference, a 2 door coupe body differs from a 4 door saloon body as well. But not very much.

No! They drive the same, handles the same with Sedan+ sports package! I never drove sedan without one as it lacks sports susp, so might handle, drive differently?

The rest of the market outside North America gets the 325, 330, 335 in addition to whatever model they have. Only North America gets the 328 because to have a 325 and 335 only, the difference between them would be too large. And we don't get a 330i because our fuel is not ready for its direct injection engine yet.

Thanks guys! I was just wondering if I should go out and test an e92. The M3/335i decision is a heavy one.

The reason we don't get the 325i/330i/335i here in North America is purely marketing. Only some markets (the ones with appropriate fuel, as you say) that get the three I6 lineup will have the direct injected N53. Others will stick with the N52.

why don't they plop the 330i engine from the e90 into the 328 body design and call it 332i or whatever?

I guess that's an engineering design issue?? And I suppose everyone wants the latest technology, although most people won't even know what direct injection is worth...

that sucks--i would have liked to get the 330--the 328 is really nice, but needs just a bit more punch--like 25 HP.

I have a 335i sedan with sports package but also test drove a 335i coupe but it did not have the sports package.

I think the real difference (whether E90 or E92) is between those 335i's with sports package and those without.

I know all E92 coupes have the sport tunes suspension...but without the 18's the car was just not as "assured" as the E90 with zsp. This did surprise me.

In discussing this with the dealer he agreed. The E92s without sports package have a less firm ride.

Sooo...the real test is to compare sports package vs non sportspackage (in either E90 or E92) and see which you prefer.

I wonder if, in addition to the smaller rims, the non-sport seats give the driver the feel of a cushier ride as well?

The coupe and sedan should drive just about identically if both have the sports package.
