A little worried about my step tranny..

My car is auto, and i always drive it in step. I drove it today fairly aggresively, i usually do lol, and on the red light, i see M1. I'm positive i didnt downshift, but we'll see. So i watch it, stop, and again, it auto switches to
M1. It doesnt do it all the time, but sometimes. I know the e90 step has that adjusts itself to the driver smart memory thing, so the only thing i could come up with is that the car thinks i would like to start in M1 rather M2. If not, what could cause this, and is it a problem?

M1 is geared way too aggressively for me for everyday driving.

I bet if you drive a bit slower for a while, it will start off in M2 again.

The drive by wire system will learn your driving habits and I tend to always use DS when driving and it always starts in M2.

Did you down shift to 2? The double down shift is one of the things I hate about the steptronic. If as you are decelerating and you push the lever to downshift, just as the car decides it's going to down shift then it ends up going down 2 gears and not just 1. For me this most commonly happens when I'm trying to down shift from 3rd to 2nd and I end up in 1st.

exactly... and what happened is that the car memorizes ur driving style,so it starts at first cause its used to hard driving and accelerations which are better from a stop in 1st... so oh oh but that gets fixed

I was under the impression that the steptronic manual mode doesn't take into account computer learned driving styles...the economy/extreme economy and sport/extreme sport profiles are for regular D and DS modes.
