Finally tried taffic maps etc
So I don't live in a large city, only 100K people and just one freeway running through it. It's too small to get traffic info. Anyway, was down in LA and my buddy and I we're messing with it. It doesn't seem to show colors like Google, where you have red, yellow, and green lanes but simply an orange strip next to the lane to signal traffic.
Am I correct? Is there any other cool tidbits I should know about the traffic info? On my way down it did ask a few times if I wanted to re-route since it noticed traffic ahead, thought that was pretty cool. |

the amount of traffic congestion is not denoted by color but rather the "density" of the little black triangles. The closer those little triangles are to each other, the more traffic.
However, you must realize that no re-route is gona get you out of LA rush hour jams, from 4-6 that map has got so many traffic alerts on the screen, i can't see the actual roads anymore. |

It may also be different for you (looks like you have the pre-LCI Idrive, where he has a 2009).

Sweet. So Traffic map (grayscale) shows the colors and the regular color map shows the arrows in density to determine traffic congestion. I like it, both ways! It was a Sunday, so traffic wasn't too bad. Only 2 alerts in like a 10 mile radius.

Yep, and you can program one of the six preset buttons to show the Traffic Map (grayscale) in the split screen. This way you can have the full color map on the main screen all the time and if you want an overview of traffic you can just quickly call it up on the split screen.
