Austin
Hey guys, is there anyone from Austin that knows some nice twisties and what not to go for a cruise on? Also, are there are nice tracks around here? Thanks

For twisties you can go to Limecreek (360 north exit, then 2020 exit). For oval-style tracks you can go to Austin Speedway or to Harris Hills Road (San Marcos). For 1/4-mile stuff you'll have to go to College Station.

Watch out on Lime Creek Road...bad pavement, tricky switchbacks with debris on the surface, pavement crumbling, and traffic borth directions, including motorcycles and bicycles. It's become pretty dangerous...

Well, the OP said cruise not race I went 2 weeks ago and there wasn't much debris. And they repaved the road last year, so not sure what spots are crumbling. If you plan to speed AND pass cars in front of you, then yeah it is dangerous. But that didn't stop anyone during the Austin meets

Ah...they repaved AFTER I dumped my bike! Great.
Even cruising is tricky, dependng on the traffic coming the other way. THEY may not be cruising!

Lime Creek winds through some hilly and twisty country...there are some stretches where you can step it up, but that wouldn't be wise. 1431 going out to Marble Falls from Cedar Park is also nice. And if you ever head down towards the Woodlands, take 290 East and exit onto 1488 just past Hempstead - that will take you down Magnolia Parkway, and it's got some great fast bends and a few straights. 2-lane road, though, so gotta be careful. There is also the "Devil's Backbone" just outside of Wimberley.

Yeah, that dinner thread seems a bid dead I dont know if people are getting together anymore. We should revitalize it and get something going, and have a meet up and go on a cruise and dinner or something like that I dont know. I think it would be fun and informative, but thats just me.
And as for the club, the only reason I wouldn't consider joining is the cost, I'm not sure if I want to spend money on that right now haha. |

Visit the website http://www.tejaschapter.org and look at the calendar of events and other sections, plus you can also read our monthly newsletter online as well. After nearly 10 years, it has been absolutely worthwhile. We have driving events, social events, even meets with other marque clubs in the area. There are also member discounts at some dealers on parts, etc., as well as other vendors. You can join and look up info about the national club itself at http://www.bmwcca.org.
