iDrive 3GS and Software questions
After much reading I believe that I have to accept the sad realization that my 2008 e90 with iDrive will not integrate well with my beloved iPhone 3GS. Here is the radio equipment list:
06FL iPod and USB adapter 06UH Real Time Traffic Information 0609 Navigation system 0620 Voice-command 06NL only became available in 2009. I imagine that is because of the refreshed 2009 iDrive refresh. I also purchased the iPhone cradle part #84212151043 on ebay. It was listed as being for the 3G and 3GS but apparently that is only for the 3G. Questions: 1) Does the radio come with blue tooth or was that another option? 2) What does the 6NL option actually consist of? Is there a physical part? 3) What functionality will I have with the parts listed? and lastly: 4) What is the latest version of the iDrive firmware for the 2008 iDrive? I do not have my build date handy but I seem to remember it being January 2008. Thank you. Last edited by Modmike; 05-01-2010 at 08:55 AM.. Reason: 6NL correction |

Thanks for the answer. My production date was dec 2007. Everything works fine with the y cable but I think I am missing a huge part of the snap in adapter. I got the snap in cradle on ebay but I am missing the whole bottom plate that is in the armrest. I do have the iPod option so do I need to buy the bottom plate?

Just did some more research and realized that I needed the base. Fact is the whole snap in thing is useless for iPhone as it reportedly does not connect the iPhone to the shark fin antenna.
Anyone want a 3G/3GS snap in adapter? |

Bluetooth is a separate option. With the 6FL option, you will be able to use the iPod functionality of your iPhone to listen to the music. Calls require Bluetooth (not sure how the 6NL option works).
