335d - New front Discs & Pads - Advice?!?!

needs some new front discs & pads on the 07 335d soon...........

options seem to be :

GSF/Euro carparts etc : about £140ish (£100 + £40)
slotted/grooved discs on ebay + pads : about £210ish (£165+ £45)
Genuine BM : £300ish

Car is just used around town and some weekend blasts.........

Are GSF ones perfectly adequate - any noticeable benefit to spending much more.........

Or would it be better with some GSF discs - and some EBC (Greenstuff??) pads??

............. and no answers saying that after 7 laps of the ring you'll start seeing some fade etc!

As long as you don't get the Zimmerman discs the GSF ones are fine. Last ones I bought from GSF were Brembo so as good or better than OEM and substantially cheaper.

GSF have just quoted :

£53.80+vat for each disc - Brembo
£52.60+vat for 2 pairs of textar pads

so with Brembo discs............ would i be better with some EBC pads - or just the Textars...........???

i would go with EBC redstuff over the Textars. Greenstuff aren't heavy duty enough for our cars IMO as our cars weigh too much.

IMO Brembo discs and Textar pads would be fine. Have to say I'm not a fan of EBC, dusty and squeally pads in my expereince [although they must have got better these days with Regulation E90 etc]

Brakes International.
Used them on a few applications, oem quality and less than half the price.
Great reliable service, they also do the wear sensors and oem pads etc too.

I ordered the discs and pads from GSF - was told they'd be Brembo discs and Textar pads

When they arrived(my bass player collected them for me) - they were Zimmerman discs and Mintex pads

Is it worth taking them back and buying elsewhere? or are these perfectly fine for road use????

Not bothered if they "fade" after 5 laps of the "ring" as i won't be doing that..........

Mintex pads are fine - Zimmerman discs I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. I fitted a set to an e39 which warped, an e46 which warped and then I gave up on them. When I got the Porsche everyone on the Porsche forum said "whatever you do don't by Zimmerman discs from GSF"....

GSF stock both and freely interchange them as compatible discs. Last time I bought some he brought Zimmerman to the counter. I asked him politely if there were any Brembo discs in the same bin and he happily swapped them over.

I'm gonna take the discs and pads back and may go for EBC's - not sure really

GSF said they just get sent whatevers in stock by their Dist Center........ and can't specify whether its Zims or Brembo
