Cool OEM E90 accesories

In my last visit to the BMW shop (tire replacement) I picked up a catalog for E90 accesories. I found many good things. I haven't found the online version though.

I had already bought and installed the rear deck spoiler and iPod adapter.

After looking at the catalog I now plan to install the trunk drawer and the umbrella that is placed behind the passager seat.

- electronic tire pressure guage
- car cover with locking kit

I heard the Ipod adapter for the BMW is not very good.......can you share any current comments on this and shed some light? I am still thinking of what to place in my bmw for an Ipod adapter.....not sure what to invest in.

How do you like the OEM car cover? Do you find it's easy to put on take off without scratching the paint? Also does it fold up small enough to fit in the trunk without taking over the whole trunk?

I'm very satisfied - it works really well. I have the iDrive though, which enhances the experience.

Keep in mind that when you add the trunk drawer, you won't be able to lift the hinged floor (access to spare tire storage trough) all the way.

Coming from a fellow non i-driver, can you tell me what kind of control you get with the adapter over your ipod. I was holding off because for the money I figured that the AUX input was the best I was going to get. The sound is decent using a $12 cable running into the glove box.

I think the umbrella holder is fitted on the passenger side of the console and not behind the passenger seat.

Is the floor actually hinged? Still, the drawer would make in cumbersome. Maybe it could be modified to fold in half like an inverted V, i.e., take it out, saw it laterally, put two hinges on the bottom side, and reinsert it into the trunk.

Ipod adapter works great. The only problem is that it holds a limited number of artist and depending how you configure the ipod each folder can only hold a limited files (songs, artists, playlists). If you have thousands and thousands of songs it takes a while to load that file. The sound is great and it's very convenient.

I thought the limit was 512, but I have over 4000 songs and no problem. Even in the CD 6 view or CD 1 (My iPod Playlist) I can access all songs (of course it takes forever to scroll down).

My favorite is CD 4 (Genre) as it loads very quick, and I have created variations of the genres to get to where I want easier.

I have two little rock chips in my left rear door, and I think they were thrown back from the front tires. Also, the rear tires seem to spray back onto the trunk somehow.

only problem with the mudflaps...it starts leaving a oily grime build-up just behind the flaps if you don't wash you car often....i think it is because it prevents the wind and water from naturally brushing off the dirt.....be careful when you get out of the car...it can stain your pants if you brush your pants on the grime...

I have the car cover and it comes with its own bag that you can store it in. It fits the car very well and so far hasnt left any fine scratches on the paint. But then again, Im very careful when I put the car cover on and take it off.

No, that's the lifestyle accesories website - the car accesories are in the main website, but only a limited selection:

http://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/3/335iSedan/access.htm

The full line is in print, available in all dealers. Does anybody have a pdf version of it?

You are correct. I recently installed the umbrella holder and it definitely mounts on the passenger side along the side of the center console (very low near the floor). I used to just keep an umbrella in the backseat (on the floor). When a passenger stepped on it and bent it all up, I decided to get the BMW umbrella.

Most passengers don't even notice this one (and no risk of getting stepped on).

agree with previous comments on the ipod adapter...it's very good, worth the money if you listen to your ipod a lot while driving. But it does take awhile to load large amounts of albums, artists, etc when you first plug it in and go to a particular type of browsing (say switch to genres from albums, etc.) I have the 80GB ipod with 65GB of stuff on it and it's a bit slow to load. But once it loads the sound quality is excellent, and it's kind of fun to browse through the ipod and to display the tracks on the little screen while driving.

about the car cover, I haven't used it yet but will report back how easy it is to take on and off when I do...

about the mudflaps, I do see that they could be construed as "anti-macho" haha but they actually improve the car's looks I think (esp. with winter tires.) A lot of cars that don't have mudflaps accumulate lots of grease, oil, crap, etc behind the wheels that is hard to clean off.
