Arrow Broker for Importing a US car to Canada(Toronto)

Hey guys,

I've been searching for a 328i coupe for a few months now. I've been incredibly busy with work/life and my searching has been confined to the odd autotrader search every other week.

I have spent a lot of time reading about the import process from the US and have come to the realization that importing a e92 328i will not be difficult task. However, I just do not have the time for it unfortunately.

Can anyone here recommend a trusted broker that would be able to assist with this and essentially deliver the car to my driveway for a fee? (handling the paperwork at the border and allowing me to take it from there)

I know exactly what I want, and can even have a friend find a specific car for the broker in the states. It's just the shipping/paperwork I would need handled. I'm getting quotes from 'joe-blow-brokers' but I don't want to engage in such a transaction without a referral/background of some sorts.

Thank you all in advance!

It is really easy and I would not pay a broker. I am in the midst of it and it didn't take anytime at all. I worked with a legit us BMW dealer and so far it has been a breeze. Car is shipped to border, then just pick it up!

Hey Modmike,

As long as it would be doable without me taking time off I would be highly interested in doing it myself. However, my understanding is it would take longer due to the need for me to get a temp permit from the US to drive the car across the border to my home. Also US customs offices are only open 8-4pm M-F. I am unavailable(at work) during these times.

That's what I did and it cost me about $450.00. You can send the documents to the US border and they will prepare everything. Then get your car dropped off at the border when the papers are ready and pick it up.

Out of curiosity, are you getting a used car or brand new from this BMW dealer?

no dealers will sell you a brand new car as they get fined for that. of course, unless you can somehow pursuade them to take the plunge

I used these guys - http://www.peninsulacustoms.com/About.html

They charged just under $200 and took care of everything.

this might sound extremely lazy

but is there dealerships that specialize on selling to Canadian? Because frankly I don't know anything about the US geography and I wouldn't know the first thing about driving to US to bargain for a car.

anyone knows a good dealership for BMW in US that is close to Toronto border and knows how to do help with all the process?

thanks

A 2008. US dealer are bound by their contracts with the automakers to only sell and deliver cars to US adresses.

Some find ways around it but most don't want the hassle.

Hey guys,

Can you please post some names/contacts for these importing companies?
I'd like to read more about the process and have some prospective companies in mind.

Cheers!

wow, can you elaborate more on how exactly this work? let say if I want to buy a c6 z06 or 911 gt3 from the US, how exactly does this company fit in the process? what do we have to do by ourselves?

I definitely wouldn't advise looking into the US. right now for one though. Especially not at our dollar being .66 to 1 USD.
