Brake rotors not smooth
I just noticed this the other day while washing my car. Both the front rotors have lines on them. Not as smooth.
I thought this is maybe glazed? I dont know if the dealer will cover but I will ask. Car is brand new less than 5K. Anyone car to chime in? |

This is not normal and it doesn't look like glazing. IMO, either the front rotors or the brake pads were not smooth as they should have been when installed. Sometimes the grooves when not too deep can be fixed, but since it is a new car, you should take it to the dealer.

From what I know, it looks like your discs have been scored.
Could be because of worn, or unevenly worn pads, or aftermarket pads that are too hard/gritty for your discs. I had this problem with EBC red stuff pads on my OEM discs. If the brakes work fine, with no vibrations, there's nothing to worry about. If they are fading, or don't stop like they used to, then maybe it's time for a brake change. The depth of the scoring will also be a clue... obviously, deeper is worse. |

Actually I felt the rotors and it is smooth but just these rings on it. I was told by a mechanic friend that the pads might not be making 100% contact with the rotor and pretty common on floating calipers. I plan to have the dealer swap some tires for me so I will ask. Stay tuned....
