Vent keeps coming on automatically... Any idea why?
Probably something electrical, right? Is this something a Bavarian Technic tool can give me input on? As I'm driving, the vent just turns on out of nowhere. I shut it off and within a few minutes, it's back on again... Any ideas on what this could be?
Thanks in advance...

You dont have your automatic vents settings turn on? Just trying to cover all the basics, before resorting to BT tool, or a dreaded dealer visit...

Seems like some sort of power reserve system, if climate control settings are adjusted and the interior cooling is on, then this could be it. If not, it could just be the engine whirring down. But this is only when the key is not in the ignition. While the car is running, I have no idea.
I have also experienced this on some occasions.

Thanks, guys.. If I don't have navigation/iDrive - would I even have these automatic settings? If so, I'll check into it considering the possibility I inadvertently altered something...

Well it may be just the engine shutting down like I had said before, because my previous BMW did not have iDrive/Nav but did the same thing. Try the manual and see? Changing something without being aware of it is also a possibility.

I had something like that happen to me one day...hasn't repeated itself since then. I thought I was losing my mind. Turn the air/vents completely off. Looked down a minute later and the air had come back on, at the lowest fan speed. Turned it off again, same thing happened. The air just didnt' want to stay off. Gotta love german electronics.

It happened really bad yesterday (not the first time it ever happened) but maybe I'll get lucky and it won't happen much anymore...
