i went and bought some of the towels recommended by zaino on their site. here's the question though, when you guys wash your cleaning/polishing/drying towels do you use fabric softener? i don't want them getting all rough, but i also don't want to taint hte polishing with whatever residude that the softener leaves on the fabric

I read many times that fab softener is a no-no. Bounce is no good either. If you want to be extra punctilious you can rinse the still wet freshly washed towels in distilled water. But that's only if you want to be punctilious.

cool, thanks. that's what i was wondering. i figured someone here would know i had a feeling fabric softener would be bad, i just wanted to verify.

Should have been included in your docs from Zaino to only use liquid soap, don't want any grains of undissolved soap in your towles to scratch your car, and not to use any fabric softeners. I personally think if you have a good location, air drying is best as well, then you won't get any sand or whatever from the previous clothes that went through.

definately a NO on the fabric softner. and when you wash your towels that you use for your car, wash them with NOTHING ELSE so keep them separate from your clothes and other stuff. you don't want the extra lint on your towels to rub off on you car when you dry them.

thanks for all the feedback. we should write some big prodecure manual for washing our e90's. the ultimate car wash book. how to wash your towels may seem like a small detail, but obviously it has an affect on the final wash outcome.
