i've seen crappy tire have sales for 29.99 for a decent torque wrench, but i can't find anything lower than 79.99.

does anyone know where i can grab a torque wrench for around 30 bucks?

Princess auto...they have sales from time to time...I picked up mine for $25 a while back.

Check Sears. Sometimes they have some pretty good sales.

But in my experience with torque wrenches, the cheap ones are no good. They tend to use their calibration quickly and recalibrating a torque wrench is more than a replacement.

It'd almost be an investment to go >$100 for a torque wrench if you can. But then again it really depends on how often you use it and how accurate you need it to be.

I got mine when it went on sale for $40 or $50 I believe (>5 yrs ago), orig price $80. It's a very good torque wrench imo I use it for both my cars

the best thing is it has lifetime warranty and I somehow managed to bust it but they replaced it for me for free

looks like torque wrenches are on sale again at CT, pg 26 of April 16-22nd flyer has them as on sale for 45% off from $59.99 to $67.99 from regular price of $114.99 to $124.99
