Just Saying Hi

Just saying hello to all UK E90 fans.

In the process of selling my E46 330CI sport and replacing with a new 335i Sport Saloon.

Was gonna get a second hand M3 or the 330d but along came the 335 and for the same sort of money.

Sod the MPG - haven't had a new car in years so thought I would push the boat out.

Going for Silver with Black leather (boring I know!)
Manual Gearbox
Xenons
Heated seats
Logic 7
CD Changer
DAB
TLS
Sun Protection Glass

I know the auto is more popular (and will offer therefore better residuals) but even with the paddle shift I just don't enjoy the driving experience as much.

Anything I should know before options finalised and can't be changed?

Cheers

Tim

Sounds like a good spec to me. Silver's a good choice - darker colours definitely get dirty quicker.

Did you test drive the manual 335i, and how was it? Presumably pretty good if you decided to order one :-)

Which wheels are you getting? As you can see from my sig, I went for the 18's but they don't feel much different at all from the 19's on the demo car.

Thanks fellas

Delivery probably just after xmas/early in new year.

I live out in the sticks and the tiny back lanes to the major a-road are just mud tracks in the winter - silver just seems to stay cleaner longer and was a real factor in choosing the colour

Could not get to test drive a manual - no dealer had one. Test drove the Auto - phenominal power but not the "right feeling". I just prefer manuals for the fun of driving - I know that it will affect resale values if everyone wants autos but I am buyin the car for me not for for the next guy. (Did drive a 330d manual sport to get some idea)

Dealer said that 19 inchers were not an option on the saloon - has he got this wrong? as I might have been persuaded (I like the 18's and 19's on the coupe)

Otherwise thought I might go for some BBS 19's next summer - After a bit of time on the standard 18's

Just gotta sort the finance out now!

Cheers

Well there must be some demand for manuals as I have also ordered one, although it is an E92 rather than E90.

Only thing I would say about the spec is concerning DAB, I was also thinking of it but heard that in most of the UK the DAB network signal is not strong enough to pick up decent reception when on the move so may not be worthwhile. I dropped it from mine so may be worth researching.

Hello Tim,

welcome and congrats to a fine order.

I think the titanium silver is far away from boring on an e90 M-sport. It brings out the shapes and lines much better. Thats why I went for it, too.

About your options: You're ready to go, but I would always consider the comfort access, once you tried it you would never want to go without!

Cheers from Germany

Ted

Unless the BMW DAB tuner is not as good the Blaupunkt System I had, DAB radio works well where I live and fine in the areas that I do most of my "work" driving.

Surprisingly FM radio is poor (North Yorkshire) but in the Vale of York through to Leeds and down to Sheffield etc never had a reception problem with DAB in my car.

I like a bit of "Planet Rock" in the morning to get me going!! (and "Smooth" on my way home to chill!)

Dante

Couldn't bring myself to part with £430 just to avoid pressing a button to lock/unlock the car and putting the key in the ignition!

All the best

My experience has been that the DAB is superb....works well with the logic 7 centre speaker on voice based content.
I have one drop-out area lasting about 10 seconds on my 90 mile round trip commute and that's only when the weather is filthy.
Make its all the better to hear England getting a thrashing on radio 5 live

Coverage should get better as we move towards turning the FM signal off..yes its a long way off now but maybe it might not seem that way I come to sell on.

Breakfast show listening
Planet rock with Alice cooper on DAB vs Moyles or Wogan on FM

Yep from Castle BMW York - they werre a real pleasure to deal with and the sales guy I dealt with a real BMW enthusiast (Builds and races E30 M3's)

The DAB radio is excellent - even in rural North Yorkshire I get a good signal - a worthwhile option.

Cheers
