Paint and Body Shops in Houston - Recommendations?
So, I'm looking to get my front passenger side fender replaced because of a large crack (seen here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=351424 ) and was looking for some good paint/body shops in Houston.
I went to Metropolitan Collision after hearing some praise from other members and they seemed very professional, but they wanted to paint blend about a 1/3 of the hood and 1/3 of the passenger door to match the new fender especially since my car's AW. Is this necessary? or Should I ask them to try and do it without blending? I had my m-tech rear bumper painted at Motorwerks a little while back, but its starting to peel in certain parts and I'm gonna have to repaint part or all of it. So, any other body/paint shop recommendations in Houston? Should I stick with metropolitan collision and let them blend the hood and door? Request them to not blend the paint? Thanks for any input! |

Request them to not blend the paint, also ask if they do warranty.

Blending is a standard practice when replacing the fender. However, since you are paying the bill you can request not to have the panels blended. AW does have a lot of metallic in the basecoat so the fender may stick out like a sore thumb. Just inform the shop that you know the fender may not match and that your are ok with that.
Warranty is a big deal when it comes to automotive repair. Check out http://www.autobodyalliance to find a reputable body shop in your area. |

Blend the paint to match the rest of the car. Even factory paint is blended, they just do at the factory
Any competent body shop should be able to match the body color with a subtle variance depending on the material the paint is applied to (plastics, metals, etc). |
