best dealer for service

I would like to know the best dealer in chicago for car service and if it's possible to get serviced even if the car wasnt purchased from them. I had bought my cpo vehicle at Fields in Jan but had a bad experience from them as they charged me for a check engine light diagnosis. They blamed bad fuel and said it wasnt covered under warranty. Now, the brakes need to be replaced according to the idrive( at only 30000 miles?) and afraid that they would try to find ways to charge me again. any info will be greatly appreciated.

Part of your experience depends on your SA. Field just blows in general...sales/service, whatever. Since you are up north, let me recommend Knauz....see Gus. He's the man up here.

I use Eric at Bill Jacobs and highly recommend him. Jacobs is opening their new dealership next week and it's twice the size, I'd expect their service to even get better.

Thank you guys for the info. I have made an appt with Ryan Burton this weekend. Emailed him about my situation and he responded right away and assured me that I would be taken care of. It's a 35 mile drive from home but I'm sure it will be worth it. Sick and tired of ppl from Fields to say the least.

I have an early appt(8am on sat) with Ryan. Hopefully I can convince him to give me an oil change under the maintenance plan even though the car still has 3k left to go. The oil was leaking from the oil filter housing(probably started way before I bought the car) so I replaced the filter myself last week since Fields wouldn't do anything about it. I would replace the oil myself but just don't have time.
Lastly, are they mod friendly? Planning to do some basic mods(jb3, dci) pretty soon.

I just got an oil change at Jacobs outside of the mileage window, but within the once per year one. When was your last change? If its greater than 11 months Jacobs will give you one under the maintenance plan.

I'm not sure when the last oil change was performed. I bought the car with 28.5k miles on it back in Jan. Now it has about 32k but had to put a quart after the low oil indicator came on and oil leaking from the oil filter housing. I seriously think Fields didn't inspect the car when the car was sold to us. There some old oil gunk around the block and one of the valve cover screw is missing. So much for a cpo vehicle.

I believe that mod-friendly is more dependent on your SA than the dealership. The techs I have met don't care and actually appreciate a well-modded car. The SA's listed in this thread - Andre/Ryan/Gus at Knauz all have become our recommendations for a reason! Just make sure to bring your car to them and only them no matter how long the line at their desk/kiosk is. I would not trust another SA at Knauz other than Gus for example.

ryan is a good guy, I'm sure you'll be fine. I met Andre (from Laurel in Westmont) at a meet last year and ever since he's been my go to guy. Always hooks me up with any repairs I need, no questions asked, mod friendly and has a nice X5 or 535i loaner waiting for me too. I don't mind driving down 2 1/2 hrs from Madison for his service.

Ryan was awesome. Very professional and friendly. Gave me the free software update along with a few other things. He even asked the tech to check the hpfp and injectors and replace if needed since i went over 30k(but checked out they were fine for now). I will be going back for oil change soon. Thank you Carlos and everyone else for the recommendation.
