opinions on aftermarket suspension
im currently dry humping the idea of putting on aftermarket springs and shocks. i have always been an h&r bilstein guy, but that is on reputation alone, i have never actually owned either. i come from a vw background and there were always cheaper alternatives. since i dont track my car i never bothered to waste money on unneeded "performance". but now that my financial ability is better then when i was younger i refuse to put junk on my bmw. so i was planning on getting the h&r cup kit with a 2" drop, but i ran across a person on this website that had eibach springs and swore by them, so i was wondering if anyone with experience with both or other brands could help me make up my mind. any input would be appreciated

i also have the breyton spirits but mine are flat black, they didnt have a full set of silver but the black is growing on me. the fact that they are matte matches the shadowline trim so i think it looks good. i am going to try to find bmw centercaps when you look at the wheels from a distance the centercaps look generic, it just looks like a plain silver center.

From what I've learned on different boards - you don't wanna change just the springs. If you change the suspension - change all of it to match the setup, 'cause your OEM shocks are not designed to handle stiffer/lower springs. OT - it's funny how when I was on Lexus board, everybody said how good BMW suspension is, and tried to get the suspension set that matches BMW ride. And now on BMW board people are still not happy with OEM BMW setup and want some more .

the cup kit is a shock and spring set, designed to work together. i am not unhappy with the stock sport suspension, it is srtickly looks, as i said i do not track my car. most people may not notice but when i look at my car (and i look at it alot) i see a 2" gap front and back. and i love the look of a "performance oriented suspension" not "slammed" i dont want the wheels inside the wells.

The wheels will still be inside the wells. That has to do with the offset. With a drop, they will look even more tucked in. You will need spacers or rims with a more aggresive offset.

I can vouch for the H&R Cup kit, you won't be disappointed. You just need to decide how low you want the drop to be... (touring vs. sport)...

i meant i dont want the wheels up in the wheel well as in you wont be able to see the top of the tire past the fender from a side veiw. and i also dont want to have to roll my fenders. but thanks for the tip on the stock centercaps i did compare them and they looked different, but i didnt try to pop them in. i imagine my o6 came with different wheels then your 07, but at least i know they are available.
