Photo radar - holy crap
I was driving along East Island Corridor tonight and right by Tai Koo Shing I noticed I was flashed, like someone was taking my picture!
When I came back the other way, I got flashed again! Did I just get 2 speeding tickets?? Anyone selling a Valentine 1??? |

There is no speed camera on the bridge section from Causeway Bay to Quarry Bay. However, once you get down to the Taikoo Shing section, there is speed camera on the Chai Wan bound lane just after the tunnel entrance. From my experience, so long as you don't exceed 10 km over the limit, it won't trigger the flash.
Of course, I think I got nailed in Kowloon coming out of the Tate Cairn's tunnel. Hopefully, he was flashing the other car, but if not, that's $450 down the drain. |

East bound there are well known two fixed camera near Tai Koo Shing. West bound, there could be handheld or removable camera near Tai On House.
Wolfman, out of Tate Cairn towards Kwun Tong? There should be no fixed camera along but handheld or removable camera near "Lai Ching Fa Yuen"

Anyway, logically speaking, speed cameras are useful in curtailing vehicle speed and thereby reducing accidents and fatalities. HOWEVER, I really HATE them since I drive long enough to know that going a bit faster then the limit won't endanger anyone. That taikoo shing section I can easily 90-100 km without endangering myself or other vehicles. But no, they MUST have it there. Meanwhile, I observe many reckless and aggressive driving behaviour almost everytime when I drive, and the police never seem to care about it? So here I am driving in and otherwise safe and responsible manner, but getting ticketed, but these other idiots driving like the public roads are their personal race track never gets caught. What is this ^&@!#$?!!!! (Yeah, on the Taikoo Shing section, I drove there today, there are indeed two speed cameras, one at the tunnel entrance, the other about 100 metres further down, both on the Chai Wan bound direction.) Are you sure you didn't psych yourself out by thinking the flash of the street lights when you go under a sign or something? or was it like a bright white flash?

good to know the handheld cam near Tai On Building (west bound only?). out of Tate Cairn towards Kwun Tong should be handheld cam right after Mongkok exit....you should able to see a white van there if the cam was setup. |

I got "flashed" twice 2 weeks ago, once taking my car to the Chai Wan BMW for regular maintenance, and I was going eastbound near Taikoo Shing, got the registered letter in the mail like 4 days afterward. Didn't know there was a camera there. Then got "flashed" driving on Tuen Mun Hwy right about where the Ting Kau Bridge merges with TMH, in fact, saw two quick flashes, then got another registered letter saying they are now investigating whether to prosecute. Both times I wasn't going that fast, well below 100, pisses me off!!! Hopefully, I still got some points left....
Now that I'm sticking to the speed limit, my wife says I drive like a 90-year old.... |
