Yeah sucks. I verified with BMW as well. At least the pads aren't that expensive. Front pad replacement is around 200.00 and rear pads are at 140$ including labour.

I have wear&tear coverage. It covers brake pads, brake rotors, wipers, and other stuff which I don't remember.
It's an extra option that you could purchase up until 1 year of owning your car. |

To the OP: BMW highly recommends you replace the rotors and pads at the same time... and from my googling.. this appears to be true... but if you're leasing your car (like I was with my old e90) I just did the pads to get rid of the light (a $250 job.. ) Good luck! |

you can purchase separate maintenance packages at an extra cost...so when you come in for service they will say "yes it's covered because you paid into the program".

I'd have to check if that includes also the rotor. Where have you got your quote from ? If just the brakes and sensors, I'll get Cool Carbon or Hawk ceramic. But have to get the sensors also. Usually, the rotors should hold 2 sets of pads before requiring to be changed. You have to check the thickness to see if within specs. But if money is no oject, than pads + rotors + sensors.

your brake sensor cable detects low brake pad (but usually you still have at least 20% left).
Yes, like everyone said, if you dont have W&T , you have to pay up for brake pads (and sensor cable) I got mine recently done at CG, for around $180 total using oem pads. but i think hawks are a good alternative cause they give out less brake dust. give CG/Nixon a call, they will 100% be cheaper than getting it done @ the dealership.
