So Mad grrrrr, F*&#ing UPS

Just recieved my spoiler and splitters from JL motoring. Paid 460 for that including shipping. Now the UPS just charged me $80.
Just a give away, stupid broke fees. In addition JL wrote the price on the receipt $200 so I basically had to pay 50% of the value. What a BS. Could of get some other stuff for the car for that money emblems/spacers.....
Can't help it, feel like ive got ripped off

Sorry to hear... That's UPS for ya!!

Regardless of import value, I always ask to have things shipped via Worldwide Express - that way I don't have to worry about unreasonable brokerage charges.

dude...try to fight it.

I bought once a $20 cell phone case. The carrier shipped ups. This was a special case I could only find in the USA.

Well you guessed it, UPS charged me brokerage fees. They charged me $20 brokerage fees.

I b&%^@ed and complained to UPS. they gave me a one time exception and credited me $20.

State your case and tell them why in the he&& would I buy it if I could get it the same price again? This is unreasonable and unacceptable...etc etc...you never know they may give you all of it back or give you a 50% credit...

UPS are bunch of b*tches....they always milk Canadian consumers. These guys are scammers I tell you, doubt they'll give that money to custom. I once bought DSLR camera from ebayer, had to pay like $200 for tax. It was bs...could've bought it brand new at retail here in Canada.

I agree. I even once spoke in dept with a delivery guy. he told me it was pure profit....I once also had a disturbing experience where on delivery of my snow tires I only received three out of the 4...they were mounted on OEM rims...he told me straight up NOT to ACCEPT the shipment....I asked him why and he blatantly said that someone from UPS/brokerage company probably stole it...and that it happens all the time...since there is insurance, the original seller/shipper gets re-imbursed while UPS will just ship the replacement for free....

Welcome to the world of Canadians buying stuff from the U.S.A.

Ship USPS - you're golden

Ship UPS, Fedex, etc. - bend over.

+1000000

From my experience, including a recent one, i usually have to bend over when receiving shipments from Fedex/UPS.

USPS - near perfect record so far.

One thing i noticed buying stuff from the US is if you're purchasing from a business name rather than an individual, you're more likely to get dinged by customs/brokerage fees b/c they can't send it as a gift, but they usually work with you on the declared value of the goods.

err that sucks..i had about $1000 worth of carbon arriving via UPS ..declared value was 400..they charged me $84 tax/brokerage

but when my plenum came..they charged me 380 twice..cause the first time they broke it...replacement got taxed too ...7-8 months for that to be refunded by customs now..

their charges are really inconsistent...i've had better luck with Bax Global(DB Schenker) ..my akrapovic came flawlessly and effortlessly..except being taxed, but that's a given

I buy from Canadian vendors, or even the dealer when I can afford to...but sometimes it's just not reasonable, like $130CDN for the same $60USD knob (real example)

It's frustrating that many US sites don't provide the option for USPS, and it takes the online out of online shopping if I have to phone them...

Anyway, I think some members here (Hedges?) have figured out how to have items picked up (which is subtly different) in the US by USPS, then shipped here. I looked at the USPS web site, but never quite found the right hoops to jump through.

Yep UPS charged me 500 bucks for 1800 dollars for tirerack items (rims and tires).

FedEx charged me 491 for brokerage fees on 1830 USD couple weeks ago (private sale used rims and tires).

Go figure!

I remember I post my story about U Piece of Shit last year.. they frikking shipped 3 wheels to my house, the last one they may drop in Pacific Ocean... it took 3 days for them to pick it up and shipped to my door. FxxK..

Never ever try to use UPS.

one funny story I need to tell you guys. Last year I bought my coilover from the U.S. and they shipped via UPS. When the truck guy dropped my coilover at my house, he forgot to ask me to pay for the brokage, duty,etc.. neither did I ask them about it. Several weeks later they sent me a letter saying that I owed them money.. Holly shit. they called my thousand times and asked for the money.

Then I said, "WHERE THE FxxK IS MY COILOVER"

lucky me I didn't need to pay for the stupid brokage once.
