GTA suggestions: place to detail my own car and change tires?
This is for all those in the GTA. I'll be moving to Toronto next month but my car's not coming over until later in the summer. I bought a new condo in downtown Toronto on Lakeshore. Because it's a smaller condo building, I don't think there will be anywhere for me to bucket wash or change my tires or detail my car.
I'm sure there are people here who live in condos who are in the GTA. I found some threads about where to go to wash my car but I was wondering if anyone here knows where I can detail my car and/or change my tires with my own tools? (preferably in my area?) Or is this something that's not possible and I'll have to start paying people to detail my car and change my tires? Thanks! |

i'm currenly living in a condo in toronto, on the lakeshore actually - parklawn and lakeshore. My condo has several car wash bays on different parking levels. To do basic maintenance stuff i usually go to my parents or brothers house to do it, but i guess that not an option for u...not sure what i would do if i didn't have use of their garages, ur gunna have to make friends with ppl with houses and garages quick
for car washing there's coin operated places all over the city and depending on what time u go u could bring ur own supplies and wash ur car |

I should have mentioned where along Lake Shore Blvd...just realized it's pretty long lol. I'm at Lake Shore & Bathurst (closer to the Rogers Centre).
It's one of the new Concord buildings. However, I heard it's a "boutique" style building so it won't have those massive massive parking structures typical of the other buildings by Lakeshore. Concord still hasn't told me yet if there will be wash bays. Otherwise if they did have it, I could just detail late at night like at 2 AM (I mean I don't have to be in the wash bay to clay, only to machine polish). I'm guessing painting bumpers is sort of out of the question now. And we only have a few relatives in the GTA and they have a drive pad which is at a steep angle and a tiny tiny tiny garage. Maybe I can offer to change winter tires for them... Last edited by Andy M; 03-16-2010 at 10:32 PM.. |

i'll actually be moving to bathurst and lakeshore once my condo is ready, hopefully around fall. I'm sure u could change tires in ur parking spot as long as ur neighbouring cars aren't boxing u in...i mean its a relatively fast and straightforward operation. I did some exhaust work on my old car in my parking spot...i'm sure if i was there too long security woulda came along and told me i'm not supposed to be under the car, lol

Detailing I can do too as long as I don't need to remove any scratches. But I suppose I could just clay the area I need to work on at my workplace's parking lot (2 min drive) and do the machine polish there and then clay the rest of the car once I'm back in the condo parking lot. Damn...sucks not to have a garage. |

I live like 5 minutes away from you guys =) e90fanatic Sometimes I take a walk along marine parade dr when it's nice outside. Was there this evening and saw black e92, black e90 335, white e90 (that is parked there almost all the time). Andy M Look for a not busy coin car wash. The one I go to is usually at least half empty, so I spray the car first, then I use my own bucket, soap and brush, and once I'm done I pay again to rinse off the car. As long as there are no other cars waiting you are allowed to do that (there is even a sign that says it). Then I wax the car in the underground parking.

Mr Z good idea thanks.
As for the tires, yeah I might be able to do it quickly in the parkade before security gets to me hehe. Thinking of selling my 3.5 tn Michelin floor jack (it would be dearly missed ) and getting the 1.5 tn aluminum floor jack which is on sale at CT now. The 3.5 tn jack is so awesome and really stable but it's like trying to carry an anvil. |

Church/Dundas here. My building doesn't have the car wash bay So I either go to my parent condo or my sister house to wash my cars.
