possible warrenty void???

hey, i'm just starting to get some mods, and before i install anything, i just had a few questions:
does installing mods void warrenty?
also, i'm having some hpfp problems so i got an extended warrenty on hpfp. but if i install exhaust systems and bovs, would that void my warrenty on hpfp?
thanks

Contrary to popular belief the Magnuson-Moss Act does not allow you to alter your vehicle and thus force the car maker to warranty a product in a configuration the vehicle was never sold in. Mods constitute "alterations". Typical new car warranties state that alterations to the powertrain, suspension and audio systems void the warranty. Read your limited new vehicle warranty very carefully.

You might want to do a search here and at other forums for warranty denials. It's an eye-opener on just how much you risk when you mod.

hmm. alright, thanks for the advice

hpfp has a 10yr warranty on it....you don't need extended to get that.

according to some dealers... driving your car between the hours of 2pm and 4pm when the weather is too warm and the sun is too bright will void your warranty LOL

Just have fun with the car and mod it to your liking... after all, it is YOUR CAR

Another scenario is that depending on the type of mods you do you can always remove them before taking the car back in for any warranty work.

unless got forbid you have engine management or some other mods in the car and it breaks down and you have to take it to the dealer. Then your screwed. If your gonna do any kind of performance mods. I'd keep AAA, and just get the car towed to the house first in case something happens, you can always take it home 1st and remove any kinds of mods b4 calling for bmw service. Personally, I think its just too much of a headache if your still under warranty. If your really worried and are gonna have a heart attack everytime something goes wrong with the car, just enjoy the car stock.

Just my .02

Or Just keep a set of tools in the Car to remove any ECU mods you might have... that's what I do, I keep tools in the trunk, just so that if I do happen to break down (which hasn't happened yet) I can easily pop the hood, remove the Tune and then make it look like stock again (15 - 20 minutes of work)

Or you can do this

Not my cup of tea. God forbid my car broke down in the middle of no where and have my wife with me. Last thing I need to do is to start work on my car and worry about engine management software and warranty issues in the height of a situation....just my .02.
