Time to clean up the summer rims!!!!

Spring is finally here, pulled the summer tires and rims out of storage and cleaned them up. I just finished applying a second coat of Wheel Wax, this is the 1st year I have used this, I am hoping that it will reduce the amount of brake dust on the rims this year. If anyone has any experience using Wheel Wax please share your thoughts.

wheel wax will not reduce amount of brake dust, but will make it easier to clean....all you really need to do is spray them down with water

it may be premature. weather network is forecasting temperatures to fall below 7C starting sunday until the end of the month including a few days of possible snow fall.

The only way to reduce brake dust, visually, is get darker rims.... unfortunately

I used to use Wheel Wax on my G35 when i had my summer rims on. It was NOTHING but a pain in the arse! I would apply it, 2 coats, and by the end of the day i would have brake dust on the rims! It does NOT help remove it, nor does it stop it. Will i put it on my BMW rims? Yea, simply because i have it and maybe it will work better on these than on chrome...

Sorry didn't mean to imply that it would reduce the amount of Brake Dust only that it would (I hope) make them easier to clean. I figure 2 more weeks until I feel comfortable putting the summer tires back on. If by chance we get a freak snow storm after that I'll just keep it in the garage and drive the wife's AWD....

From my past experiences in the summer... it's best to clean your rims every 3 days to prevent any brake dust build-up. If you let it sit... you eventually will get those black spots and rust in the corners.... makes your rims look soooo ugly ...then the only way to really clean it is acid, etc.

every three days, that insane, i'll be lucky if i have time to clean my ride once a week nevermind every 3 days. My previous rims were gunmetals so didn't look to bad with some brake dust, just darker, new ones are silver...gunna have to try to clean them at least once a week

i was planning on getting my summers put on but after looking at the extended forecast i think ill wait till at least the first week of april. after this week temps look to be dropping down to the average with the possibility of snow/flurries on Monday,Wednesday, and Saturday

i remember riding in my summers when there was even a hint of flurries on the ground my car was sliding

I've been just putting on a few coats of Zanio on my rims and the dust come right off when washing. Any good sealant will make your life easy when washing rims. The brake dust is defiantly not as bad as the Audis, I clean them in the morning and at the end of the day they are black again.
