Bimmers with-out front plates...
Was driving around the Markham area today...of course plenty of bimmers...plenty of 3-series, 5-series and the odd 7-series and M3s...I think you know which area I'm talking about...anyways, I was astounded to see a few new 3-series with Ontario plates at the back, but NO front license plates...perhaps imports from the USA or from another province (Quebec, Alberta) but do people realize that it's a ticket if you don't have a front plate in this province???
I thought people would have some sort of intelligence around these parts Anyways, perhaps I'm reading to much into this, but does anyone know what the ticket is if you don't have a front plate in Ontario? Is it just a ticket charged to the owner of the vehicle? |

Its just like tints, i have 20% all around, i know its illegal and got one ticket, i paid it....if i get another tint ticket im still going to pay it, there is no way im taking my tints off and drive around with 70% tints haha.

Page recieved lol.
19 times pulled over and 16 tickets.....I guess you gotta pay to play lol. I hate the hassle, but its my choice to disobey the law and so far I am willing to put up with the consequenses. I got my first ticket of 2010 a few days ago and my second 2 days later...bad start this year considering I just pulled my car out of storage this month! FYI: The fine is $110, but if you have time to fight the tickets you can get off by filing for court. Most of the time it doesnt even make it to court because the courts are backed up and its costly to hold court just for your measly plate. |

I wish it was just a ticket that you just pay. If that were the case, id go tint all around and run with no front plate. I don't mind paying for it, its just the fix it ticket thats the problem

Im running no front plates.... Its a risk... I did the OEM M3 Bumper conversion and dont want to screw it up drilling the holes for the front plate.
So lets see how it goes.

I've never been actually pulled over because "my tints were too dark", i got my ticket when i went to a car meet and the cops started pulling everyone other to check for "illegal mods" like an exhaust, tints, drop, etc.....The cop pulled me over and he started checking my car, he asked me to put my windows up so he can check my tints, it was around 6 pm, he brought a small tint machine, cleaned my window/tint and measured it, there was 4 cops standing next to my car waiting to see whats the tint percentage is, it came to 13% LOL!! Cops freaked the fk out <---- like this basically! I told them i thought it was legal (i was fking around with them) and never been pulled over for them and i've been driving around for 2 years. They were like no no its illegal. Tints....$200 Tint ticket ....$150 Cops reaction....PRICELESS!! hahaha

I dont think they can do that, just like poking your exhaust with a stick!

I was in my bimmer two days before Christmas, in downtown T.O. making a left turn on to Yonge St from Lakeshore, in the middle lane, and yep, he was waiting for me and gave me a $110 ticket for an illegal left turn....I thought a left turn was always allowed from the middle lane at that intersection...but I guess they had recently changed that.... |

I also don't think you have to roll your windows up/down so the police can check just to see if you have tints, but if you voluntarily allow the officer to search your car, anything he or she finds can and will be used against you. That said, dark tints on the windscreen and front side windows are a road hazard. If you have dark tinted windows, then I (as a pedestrian or driver) cannot see where you are looking, and that makes it much harder to judge where your attention is and what you are going to do, and therefore much more likely that we are going to end up in a collision and someone is going to get hurt. You probably are a good driver, always obey all of the rules of the road, and always keep your eye on the road while at an intersection, but there are enough drivers who don't that I as a driver, cyclist, or pedestrian cannot count on that while negotiating an intersection, and so have to rely on eye contact to make sure I know where everyone's attention is. |
