Got my front license plate off, holes plugged. What do you think?

I finally got my front license plate off and got some plugs to fill the holes. I got the plugs form autozone and painted and clear coated them. I wasn't going to spend $35 on a pair of them from online when I could do them myself. All together it costed me about $15 and thats with me buying the bigger cans of spray paint and clear coat. The paint isn't oem but looks pretty darn close to me. I can't believe how much better it looks. You can actually see how good the front of the car looks without a huge annoying plate blocking it.

Always better with no front plate.

Unfortunately, in CA it's a requirement. I have the tickets to prove it!

Gotta say, tho, on my black coupe, it isn't nearly the eyesore it would be on a lighter-colored car.

for those that have installed bumper plugs, how do you get the stupid things to go in straight and sit flush on the bumper? I got the generic assortment of door fasteners from Autozone and painted a couple of the different styles but i can't get them to go in straight and sit flat against the bumper. They seem to go in straight but then they're always a tiny bit crooked when fully in.

Did you guys have to cut off a portion of the plug stem so it wouldn't go crooked when pushed in all the way? This is driving me nuts!

if you bought the Dorman plugs from autozone, the ones with a nickel sized head, you may have to snip some off the stem, otherwise they will hit some something behind the bumper and not go in all the way. Also, make sure that your license plate holes are as flush as possible to the bumper. What I mean is that you may have to use a razor knife and cut out some of the mangled plastic that gets pulled out when they screw the front plate on.

yeah i sanded down the holes and pulled out all the plastic garbage that was in there. i'll snip the plugs and see if that works out better.

so i sanded the holes down even more and snipped a little off the end of the plug but it's still not as flush as i want it to be. the OPs pictures make it look like the plugs are completely flush against the bumper. maybe he can chime in.

am i being too much of a perfectionist?
