Question Where Is The Turbo For E90 330i????

WHERE IS THE TURBO FOR E90 330I????
I heard there are turbos for the e46, if you guys said in my other thread that e46 330i and e90 330i are VERY VERY VERY similar... shouldn't there be a turbo outhere for e90 to use?? ( i am just hoping lol)

Dude, be patient. The e90 is only 2 years old. It takes time to develop and test these things. VF Engineering, ESS, and others will have stuff out next year.

BMW said the Al/Mg block on the E90 can't handle the pressure created from Forced Induction (FI) so IMO you're not going to see one. 335i uses similiar block materials as the E46 (Al w/Iron cylinder inserts) so that's why u hear about E46's with FI (usually a supercharger instead of turbo).

Why bother developing, and supporting a product, for a motor that saw one (really one and a half) production year?

Especially now, when you can concentrate on quick and easy chips/turbo replacements for the 335. Much easier, much cheaper to develop, much quicker to get to market.

Which is sad ... I wanted a SC.

there wont be a turbo for the E90 in any near future, if ever. The ECU will not take well to turbo FI (centrifugal SC's are easier to tune) and even the E46 doesnt yet have a turbo application for it.

Add into the fact that people can now just get a 335, chances of E90 turbo are slim to none.

And for reference, an E90 turbo kit would cost between 7-10K, based on history of BMW FI.

seriously, trade in your car for a 335i, from the very beginning since you joined this forum, you're always talking about how to upgrade your 330i's power to a 335i's level, whether or not to trade in. Seems you're not satisfied with your car, and you've only owned it for less than year!

Trade it .... or hold onto it and just keep your panties on until the M3 comes out.

I got to drive a 335 the other day and wasn't all that impressed. Yeah, it was fast, mid-range torque was nice, but at the top end it felt too flat. Well, maybe 'not impressed' is too strong a phrase. Maybe, not impressed enough to want to spend the money to get rid of my 330 and buy a 335, is more appropriate.

But I like revvy peeky motors ... I'll never understand why anybody complains that the power on an s2k doesn't come on until 6k rpm.

hm... i think ill keep my boxers on ... That post definitely made me feel a bit better. It's a full one second faster in zero to sixty times and on a quarter mile.. maybe 2-3 seconds faster. Not much of a difference? well.. if when it comes down to the money... ill see what happens. Other than that.. yeah holding off till that m3 should keep me going...
