Anyone tried BT data logging with a notebook?

Posting this here as i thought most BT users would be here - moderators feel free to move.

I'm using an Asus Eee 1005PE notebook, Atom450. It works fine on reading/erasing faultcodes etc. However on data logging the notebook seems to be reading ok, but it doesn't write most of it into the requested CSV format. I'm trying to see what' s going on with my battery and log only 3 parameters. Connector is flashing green and red, but BT support said that is normal during logging. Just to test, each time i switch the seat heat on the PC reads and displays an immediate increase in one of the parameters (alternator duty cycle). This is on a 30 minute highway drive, where it just sits and logs. Yet when opening the excel file there is hardly any data, seems it stops after some 10-15 seconds, or has a gap, and then stops.

I've selected "high performance mode" on the note book, slowed down data logging rate in the BT software, but still get the same. I'm saving data onto flash USB memory as i'm not sure if one can damage the hard disk when writing while driving.

Any ideas? Is an Atom450 processor too slow for this?

The saving to USB is normally much slower than to the harddrive. The hard drive operates for other things anyway so you can as well use it to store BT-logs.

Are you saying that during logging its disconnecting then reconnecting?

You possibly might need a ferite on the USB cable, or a shorter USB Cable, or the USB on the laptop is not up to the task?

Just throwing out some ideas.
