Talking Minnesota Spring Meet Thread!

Chaps,

The weather is getting better, which means it is time to start planning for our spring meet. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you guys, grabbing food, and talking cars during our last meet. Also, it was great to meet Kevin and his awesome tune shop, Imola.

For our spring meet, I propose we do something similar, except that we add a cruise component and pick a spot that will allow Martin's photography skills to flourish. I actually think it might be a good idea to identify a small town within a half hour's drive that won't be crowded and have some scenic routes. Stillwater seems to be a good choice, but I am interested in hearing other options as well:

Location - Potential Start at Imola (Outside Parking Lot - Pending Kevin's Permission)
Date - 4/17/2010
Time - 11:00 AM

Cheers,
Anvar

PS - How awesome would it be to have our summer tires on

Sounds good! I'm not from that area but I'll look around.
Hopefully Kevin will be okay with us hanging out at his shop.

The date and time is cool with me. Would you guys be willing to drive a little further? Taylors Falls and Redwing are both nice little towns!

Oh and I will have my summer wheels on

BBQ

I am not sure if this is practical, but what are your thoughts on doing some grilling if the weather permits? I know Imola has a grill, so this might be an option to toss around.

I'm always down from some grilling

So what are you thinking, we would do this before taking a drive? Or return to eat afterwards?

Well, I am guessing we would have to do the grilling at Imola, so it makes sense that like last time we congregate in Imola, do some grilling, do some eating, and then head out for a drive.

Before any plans are too set, has anyone asked Kevin about meeting at his shop for this? Should probably figure that out first.

Good call! The only reason I've made this assumption is because Kevin mentioned that we are welcome to hold any future meets at his place. I figured we would be out of his way, as his outside parking lot can be used.

In any case, if we don't hear from Kevin, I think we should pick a different spot. An alternative would be to meet at the parking lot around Lake Calhoun, where all those car shows are held. I think it will also offer some good photo opportunities.

That would be nice, but we'd all have to get a hotel.

If we use that parking lot at Lake Calhoun, do we need to reserve it? I wouldn't want to be questioned or kicked out by local authorities.

Also, someone brought up the idea of going to ProKart? That still an idea?

I was just kidding about Duluth Although if there was a fun twisty road up to there I think it'd be worth staying the night, not so much for a couple hours of boring Interstate...

I'm not sure what the deal is with the Calhoun parking lots, I've never even seen a car meet there! Anyway, I'm easy, up for anything, including karting.
