Exhaust connecting pipes.

As the title would suggest, can you buy these on their own?

Have Remus boxes sorted but dont really want to cut my standard pipes

Have you priced them? I just did and I'd be better off buying a whole system

i have remus mufflers and eisenmann connecting pipes as well. thats what i would recommend. unless you are willing to cut OEM pipes; either yours or pick up someone elses OEM exhaust if they dont want it.

Why spend £100+ on connecting pipes you don't need

Any decent fitter can easily replace back to stock for around £30.00....it's not brain surgery.

When you do come to trade in or sell (if that's what you are worried about), who looks under the car anyway...I know I never have.

Not trying to sound negative, of course get the connecting pipes if that's what you want to do, but it's make no difference cutting, honestly

You can buy them from BMW for the E60 anyway. £35 per side. Its what they use to replace a damaged section or back box

I’m with the not cutting pipes. At least I am now. I cut them twice on my old E39 M5 (x-pipe and then boxes), and I just wasn't as happy with the integrity of the whole system clamped up as I would have been had it used the OEM connections – which I realise would have been tricky with the M5 as it was a one piece system.

Then when I came to sell I had to some how distract the buyer from looking under the car only to see everything clamped back together again, certainly not something I would want someone to see on the M3 if/when I sell it. It would just bring unwanted questions. Given the M3 does have distinct points at which it can be separated it seems logical to take advantage of them.

When its time to sell why not give the punter the option of the exhaust. If the want it standard then take thier money then get it swapped over.

Honestly it no big deal cutting these pipes if you have it done by a professional spanner monkey.

Stock cars are so much easier to sell than one with mods, as soon as you mention that a car has mods, or might have been modded at some point it puts buyers off. So I prefer to sell everything I've fitted separately and return the car to stock. Hence the preference to not have cut pipes

I agree in principal, but more often than not we will trade these types of cars in instead of selling privately, and secondly how many cars have you looked under when buying? To be honest if I looked under my M3 when I bought it and the stock exhaust had been cut and clamped back on I wouldn't have known if it had anyway.

Mine is highly modded and when I visited my local dealer for a trade in quote against a new E92 all they wanted me to do was to remove the back box, change the wheels back to stock (leaving them black as they thought it would sell better) and put my OEM springs back on. They would take it with everything else still on, obviously I wouldn't because I can sell on my mods.

Anyway all that is irrelevant because I am keeping the car!
