wtf!!! $110 ticket for having a radar...
So i had to drive to GA for family reason. So i had my radar on my windshield from nj to virginia. well it turns out that in virginia it is illegal to have a radar! the state troop pulled me over NOT for speeding but for having a effin radar! He told me that back in the days when they would pull someone over for having a radar....they would destroy the radar right in front of you. But instead of destroying the radar he decided to give me a 110 ticket. F**king suxs that 110 would of gone somewhere better!!!

From what i was told -
you are not allow to have the radar on. You can have it sits on your windshield but as long as its not on/connected then he cant pull u over and write you the ticket. And yes you were definitely lucky - most of the stories i hear are ridiculous. Virginia is very strict with the safety laws. i know i spend a night there )o=`, |

I went to college in Roanoke, VA. The first day I got there literally within 5hrs of getting to VA I was pulled over by a VA trooper for my radar. THEY ARE DICKS....especially when you have NY plates on your whip. Do they not realize the civil war was over more than 140 years ago? move on.

Wow that sucks...........I used to travel through VA every once in a while when i lived in MD. I would take my V1 down and put it on the ground or seat, it would still pick up radar too! I'm sure it wasn't as accurate but at least I didn't get a ticket.

i have driven through VA about 15 times (all the way through it). even at night, you can see signs that radar detectors are illegal. + you should of done SOME research before driving over 500 miles.
VA cops are really low key and actually quite fair. If you are violating the law, they will get you. From my experience, they aren't pouncing on you, hiding behind shrubs like cops here in NJ and NY, and randomly stopping cars and hoping to get you. If you are violating their laws, they will get you. Its as simple as that. Where in VA did you get your ticket?

The police in virginia has a detector for radar detectors most of the time they check your speed and to see if your carrying one; therefore you have to turn the radar detector off or they got you. There are radar detectors that detects the tool the cops use.

you should have had it up by your rear view mirror if you didn't have it there in the first place, you can't really see it if you are outside of the car and are driving by
