Will H8 bulbs fit in an E90 fog light?

I know you can modify a H11 bulb to fit into the E92 fog lights. But I have a spare set of H8 bulbs that I was going to give to my friend to use on his E90.

Before he starts taking everything apart to put them in, and since I didn't see this brought up in the search, does anyone know if you need to modify the H8 bulbs to fit into the H11 housing? If so, what exactly did you need to do? I assume it's just 1 tab that needs to be modified, but how exactly?

the base is very similar for h8 and h11
