Recommended tire shop?

It's about time for me to replace my tires and I'm on the fence about some things. I was thinking of going to Costco but they only have the summer tires and I kinda want all-season in case I wanna take it snowboarding. I looked at Sears and they have all-season tires but they're so much more expensive.

Should I just buy them from tirerack and have them mounted locally? Any other reputable shop you guys can recommend?

OEM or aftermarket?

Look on the tirerack recommended installer list. Then yelp them. Simple as that..

Also, discounttiredirect having $100 off 4 tires on feb 12th and 13rd. For California only..

Cool thanks for the recommendation. I just wasn't sure about shops like discount tires, america's tires and wheel works. I mean I wanna see if they were any good; otherwise I would just go to Costco.

PS- it's aftermarket.

I bought from discounttire before. Very good customer service. Prices sometimes are more competitive than tire rack

Sounds good. Discount Tires' prices look pretty damn good (actually cheaper than tirerack before tax). Thanks again!

If you don't want your wheel lips damaged, you want to find a shop that has a proper tire mounting machine. Not the old type where the operator uses a shovel type device to break the bead and must provide manual assist to remove the tire.

Use this as an example of the type of machine they should have.

My local Costco does not have a decent mounting machine. Nor do 75% of the local tire shops. Shop wisely if you care about your rims.

Ah, I just looked up locations and there is only one Discount Tire even remotely close and it's in SF (about an hour away from me). I don't know if it's worth it. Yes it would save me about $200+ but the hassle of driving there and back if I need something kinda kills it for me. Looks like Costco is the way to go (the tirerack + local installer route works out to be about the same).

Hmmm...that kinda throws in a wrench in things. I mean tires anywhere else except costco are expensive. And I can't exactly buy tires from Costco and have them installed elsewhere. So I guess I'll just have to have faith/risk it. I'll keep your advice in mind though. Thank you!
