Put it through insurance or pay out of my own pocket I'm with TD meloche monnex Any help would be great Thx |

First we need pics or it didn't happen...
But seriously... what a bummer. Get a police report or case#. Get an evaluation for the damages... No decisions can be made without that. |

Going through insurance should be fine. From what I gather is this will be classified as a 1 person accident and a no fault against you. The insurance company will ask for a police report which you went and got.
My sister just went through this and have had no "repercussions" from the insurance company. People have said if you start racking up these "no fault" claims they could drop you. A law was passed in Ontario that makes it illegal for the company to raise your rates because of "no fault" claims, which they were doing in the past. |

Go through insurance. I've had two hit and runs that I didn't report and I was stuck paying for repairs. Just call it in, your paying insurance for accidents like these.
Sorry about the loss, and good luck!

depends on damage i think. First is it only the bumper that was hit? if so a new one + paint would be like what 700-800$? How much is your deductible? if it's 500$ then me personally i would fork out the extra 300$ to pay for a new.
If the damage was actually more than just the bumper, report it |

You can always claim an accident to your insurance but your rates will not increase UNLESS the insurance company pays for the work done. The only drawback is that they may record on file that your car was "accidented".I suggest getting a police report then having an evaluation of damages before calling the insurance. Also, if you think the damage is minor, take pictures of it in case you decide to sell the car. All Carfax history reports indicate was that the car was accidented, not the details of what was damaged. |

I have made 2 hit and run claims in the past 5 years. All you have to pay is your deductable and it has no effect on your insurance.
Once you go in to the Claim Centre an adjuster will assess the damage and give you a quote on what it will cost to repair. Once you have that figure you will know whether you should pay out of your pocket (if less than your deductable) or proceed with the claim. No worries, this is why we pay $1500+ a year to ICBC

I had 2 quick hit&runs on my rear bumper. It seemed to be a routine event for people to just drive away....so I'm waiting to catch one of them, and use their money to pay for all of the damage at once.

So far 3 estimates ranging from 1400 -1700 for new rear bumper painted and left bumper bracket. also the trunk needs to be realigned again because it has seem to have shifted. Also they have all told me that to blend the colour and make the match as good as possible I would have paint the rear bumper and both the rear quarter panels even though they are perfect and nothing wrong with them. very worried about the colour match. I was thinking about maybe trying to find a used back bumper, but one thats in perfect condition because i want the match to be 100% and want to reduce the amount of paint thats put onto the car.

hit and run and you cant identify the 3rd party = not at fault with police report.
just file and claim through your insurance company. since its going through insurance make sure you get it fixed right, no point to cheap out in a repair

its not at fault...they can't increase your rates due to a not at fault claim.

now many people can go over 7 years AF free and therefore get their accident forgiveness, which fogives an AF accident keeping their star rating, but NAF claims are harder. lets say you have a small NAF claim and you dont claim it, next year someone totals your car and you have to claim, either way you lose that claims free discount....its not that large of a discount either. your claims free discount might be 5-10%, not from your total premium, but from specific things like the premium you pay for collision and comprehensive coverage which totals up to not being that much if you have a great driving record, which you would have in the first place for getting that discount trust me, the insurance company cannot increase your premiums due to a not at fault claim ever. if you are in a not at fault situation make the claim if it passes your deductible. look at it this way, if the repairs will be more but who cares if the insurance company is picking up the tab, thats what they are there for. plus you can get it repaired right by the right people who can do it best without you having to fork over your own hard earned cash.
