TPMS replacement service price

About how much would it cost to have a tire place take off your TPMS then put them on your new wheels? I know you have to pay for some "seal" they have to replace or something, but how much is the labor? If it's substantial then I gues buying new TPMS would be the way to go.

I want to have a baseline before I start asking around.

Depends if your RFT or not. If your using the same tires on the new wheel, if you want the tires that came off the original wheel to go back on.

No matter how i look at it, i think you'll be paying two mounting fees.
1) unmount old tire from old wheel to take out tpms
2) mount new tire and new wheel with tpms installed
3) remount old tire to old wheel

unless you want to use old tires on new wheel(this will only charge you 1 mounting fee), then
1) unmount old tire from old wheel to take out tpms
2) mount old tire to new wheel with tpms

anyways, prices depend on your local shop. to service RFT around my place costs around 100$ total. To install TPMS it's like 4$ per tire. For regular tires, it's only about 40$ total

Its the cost of dismount, mount, balance, and whatever they want to charge you for the 5 minutes it takes to swap it out. You do need special torx tools though. Depending on condition of your TPMS, you might need a rebuild kit which is basically the rubber o-rings and some plastic washers.

Want to take old tpms off of current wheels and put them on new wheels with new tires.

So they would charge dismount old tires, then charge install tpms onto new tires?

If you change the size of the wheel/tire, do you need to buy a new TPMS sensor, or can you still use the old one re-mounted?

I think the tpms are one size fits all, at least up to 2009 models.
