Gone Mod Crazy ?

Ok, not sure what happened, but prolly the meet last weekend got to me, and I ordered the following this week;

M-Tech E90 Steering Wheel
Mud Guards
Rear dual power outlets
Rear storage partition
Aluminum Pedals
Roundel logo valve stem caps
Kumho ECSTA ASX tires (being installed by Currys)

I almost dropped the hammer on the RE SSK, but need to do more research first.

So, just wondering if any "locals" want to help me with the installs when the parts come in.

you got mod fever...

Anyways...M-tech wheel: Bavarian19 has experience with this one
Mud guards: realtively easy, even I pulled that one off
rear power outlets: FrankoQ's your man
Roundel stem caps: You should've saved your money, I have a few lying around, would've given a set to you foc.
rear storage partition: not sure what it is, is it the little drawer?

They're doing a CDV delete mod group install this Dec 10th...

yes, its to replace the useless ashtray in the rear. i'll end up with an angry robot face instead of a happy one. and considering what happened today (re:hit n run) it has reason to be angry.

I also have the angry robot. Still waiting on the rubber piece for that storage piece.
Installation of the robot face is easy, but if you wanna get together to do the installs, let me know.

Take your time is what I can say and savor each mod moments.

I know how to do the valve step caps, I did a step by step video DIY on it at the DIY forum

Ok. So mods are mostly done (waiting on the steering wheel). I couldn't wait to get started, so I did them this weekend. Btw, I had a small stubby rachet screwdriver which was absolutely invaluable for most of these mods. If you don't have, it's a good idea to get one.

Kumho ECSTA ASX tires:
Curry's in Chantilly did these. Tires are great. Noise is greatly reduced. Ride is sport-firm (down from very firm/hard). Handling is ok. Turn in seems less. Doesn't quite have that 'point and go' feeling. I think I may of got used to the RFT's. Overall though, the ride is what I would expect from a sport-sedan now. I saw the BBS CH rims at Curry's and have moved to the top of my "spring wheel purchase". They are very nice and unfortunately very $$$$ too.

Mud Flaps.
Front's were quite easy. No need to remove wheels. The rears were a PITA. I had to remove the tires as it was almost impossible to apply enough pressure to screw in the bottom corner screw. BMW should supply slightly longer ones. I did manage to get both sides in except for the top screw. I ended up using a screw and washer from home. It shouldn't be this difficult! But the ends justify the means.

Aluminum Pedals.
No real problem here. Quite easy to install. I picked up a couple of cobalt drill bits at Sears, which made drilling much easier. They look amazing, IMHO.

Rear 12V Power Outlets / Storage Partition.
Again, quite easy. I didn't have quick-connects and didn't want to go out and get them, so I went old school and cut wires and used electrical tape. I went with the storage partition and am waiting for the foam insert. I noticed that the new rear cover doesn't "click and lock" in as tight as the original one.

BMW Roundel Valve Caps.
My 3yr old son installed these and said they "look good".

Ok. So now that I officially have mod fever, I'm going to get a RE SSK next. Is that something I could do myself???

The M-Tech wheel should be here this week. AJ, don't suppose you'd be up to lending a hand sometime later this week?? :P

sounds good tman...I thought the front flaps were harder than they should be, but I got the job done nonetheless, still debating if I'd want the rear flaps, although your install account is discouraging me just a tad

Christmas came early, sorta... M-Tech wheel arrived today. Now all I need is a torque wrench.

So who wants to help me one evening this week. I'll supply food and UK Beer.

M Wheel installed today. Thanks to AJ for his helping hand tonite. Actually he did most of the work.

Wheel looks good. Although one side on the cover screws didn't catch, so I might have to get the M cover now.

Hopefully pics on the weekend.
