Injen DCI problems
***Update***
I received a call from the VP (Injen). They take these concerns seriously and I've shipped the filter to them so that they can follow up with their manufacturer. I'm confident it will be addressed appropriately. Well, I've had my Injen DCI set up for about 6 months now. I went to clean out the filters last month and noticed one of them had begun to fall apart. As you can see in the photos there is a clean split in the element. There is a 1/16th gap running 360 degrees around the filter. Word of advice, it may be worth checking your filter elements every frequently for issues. Known defect? Really? If you aren't going help fix any problems; atleast send out the word that your intake is messed up so customers can fix the problem before it gets worse.

waw ... that's scary man ,, that's exactly what happened with one of my friends who bought some low quality cone filters from the market ,, after few month , the glue is milted because of the heat in the engine bay as well as the hot weather here in Dubai ...
good you reported it , so the other people will conceder this seriously before buying this kit .. I swear ,,, half and hour ago , I was searching to see if I can find a solution to install the Injen together with AA BOV ,, I was thinking to cut a little bit from the pipe of the left filter to take it backward a bit to leave enough space for the BOV .. but now .. looks like I have to look so something else as the weather is really hot here in Dubai ... |

This should be a defective unit...shit happens everywhere.
If the Bavarian X , would risk his (so far ) good reputation for a filter , its really stupid.

Looks to me like a manufacturing Issue with the element. I'm sure if you purchased new filter elements, or maybe even put K&N filters on it as a replacement you wouldn't have an issue. This shouldn't keep people from purchasing a quality product, just something you need to look out for.
Hell the fact that this car has a Known HPFP issue didn't keep all of us from purchasing it, so why should a small thing like a crack in the filter of the INJEN intake keep people from buying that? Not really the same thing, but same ball park, more or less... Of course we expect perfection from the manufacturers, but we don't always get what we expect... I haven't seen anyone else complain of this, so why are we blowing it way out of proportion?

That sucks about the filter element..have you personally talked to brad? He was and has been very patient with all my purchases..and mine added up to a couple of grand and he was willing to let me switch on a custom order...I would hope everyone hears both sides before making a judgment...hopefully this will all be worked out

True, the filters can be replaced when/if this happens but putting K&N's on it is a $90+ job for an already expensive intake.
I think BavX needs to find their filter elements elsewhere. |

Aren't there two types of Injen filters? Oiled and non-oiled? Or is that AFE?

I haven't installed mine INJEN system yet, but I am going to take a look at the filters later today, and see if they are cracked or anything. Where is BavX getting their filter elements from?

I'd replace that with an AEM dryflow. Get me some dimensions and I will try and locate a filter that will fit correctly...... I can post up part # and the cheapest place to get it for you guys.....

thats bullshit that you have to go out & purchase extra filters on a product that has a "lifetime warranty"
hopefully myself & the rest of the people that have this intake do not run into this issue. & if i do i hope JBSPEED honors the "lifetime warranty" to the OP good luck!

Not that complaining to a company always works, but if its a 'known' problem, then why isn't INJEN doing anything about it directly? Are they even aware of the issue?

i know must of us have CPO & if something happened it will be covered...but why risk it. i know i would go out & get a new filter to prevent any damage. & the OP stated that BavX known it was an issue & has done nothing! that is really bad customer support on their part. BUT then they will take his order with no problem for getting a new set of filters...thats F'D up! im not here to bash BavX but at least they should give the OP some insight on how to go about getting these cones replaced.
