Installed JB3 pnp and car feels good but one issue-please help

Alright, I installed the jb3 pnp last night and I guess the car is still adapting to it but so far so good. It has a more aggressive response and when you go at it, it really pulls. I'm currently running map 5 with a fully stock car. We have 93 pump gas here. Just want to confirm that is safe right? I did all the reading of each mapping details from n54tuning.com but just want to make sure again to be safe. I did notice one thing though. When I first start the car, I notice my trunk to be open by the warning light on the dash and I always have to go to the back of the car and close the trunk. Any idea what it could be or what I should do? Thanks for all your help.

I NEED DCI ASAP NOW =) WOOOOT!!!

I usually recommend setting to map3 for a day or so and then going up to map5

You will be fine on Map5. But +1 on what Mike suggested for faster/better adaption.

Well the Trunk issue has nothing to do with the JB3. There is no way it could. As far as map 5 you are fine on 93 but as Mike stated it is a good idea to run the car for a few days on map 3 then go to 5. Sometimes going to right to map 5 or 7 can cause a limp mode since it is so aggressive right off the Bat. The car adapts to map 3 great then going to 5 will be an easier transition.

I would stick with map 3 on a fully stock car just to play it safe, atleast until you get the intake

What about going Map 1 for a bit, Map 3 for a bit, then Map 5 for a bit, or is that overkill?

There is no need to be that delicate with the car. Map 3 is fine to start on then switch to 5 after it has fully adapted to map 3 for a few days. What Mike and I are doing is trying to avoid the shock to the system that is map 5 and above. Sometimes it is just too much right off. You need to ease it in there like a gentleman

+1

Now that I think about it... I switched between map 3/5 quite a few times my first night with the JB3 and got limp mode on map 3. I've also never heard of that trunk problem.

Edit: y'know... strangely I've never got limp mode on map 5 but have twice on map 3.

that is weird. Not sure why that would happen unless you got a bad load gas in it or it was just running hot and went into fail safe. Do you know what codes it threw?

not sure... i nearly always get 91 at shell. still haven't used BT yet, I'll probably do that next few days. I did switch between maps a lot in the first few days, so could be part of the reason. first limp mode happened on my drive home after the install. second time happened a few days after, and i'm not sure if i was on the same tank of gas.

I think the trunk problem is like what happens to me sometimes in my E39. I have the key in my pocket when sitting close to the car and I press the trunk button in the remote. I hope it's not a bigger problem. I always get this when when someone else drives the car. People just keep pressing the trunk button every time

Just run Chevron gas and go with highest octane available to be on the safe side.

update on the trunk thing. i guess i accidentally hit it to open it. just was curious because it happend on 2 occasions in a row right after i installed the jb3. it doesnt do it anymore.

im on map 3 now and going to leave it there for a few days until i get my dci in. since someone mentioned gas, what gas stations do you guys go to personally in order to help prevent the hpfp issue? I just recently started looking for shell gas stations.

jeez that's a really weird process, is this necessary with 2.0 too?

Similar thing happened to me with the trunk on my car. The trunk ajar logo would pop up on the dash just after i had started driving off. Just make sure the two rubber knobs on the inside of the trunk are screwed in nice and tight. If they are loose they hit the bottom of the trunk ledge and the trunk doesnt close properly. It took me a week to figure that out and it drove me insane until a friend pointed it out to me.
