Running the stage 3 procede maps with stock diverter valves. When I put in the meth kit and boost goes up another 1 -1.5 PSI I will probably do diverter valves at that time.

is it better to get a charge pipe with a BOV vs getting forged DVs?

I run stock DVs. I tried forged DVs for a week. Didn't notice any improvement in qtr mile times so I put the stock ones back on.

I've gone back and forth between stock and Forge several times and I always like the feel of the forge.....
Same boost levels as stock valves so no improvement there, but forge always feels crisper at part throttle angles whereas the stock ones tend to bleed boost a bit sooner. I can definitely hear more part-throttle hissing with the stock ones which means they are cracking open a bit sooner. Hotrod is right.....at full throttle, no difference.....but at part throttle, I think the forge help to keep the intake system pressurized a bit better.....so they feel crisper/tighter. |

Hotrod just because you didnt see a 1/4 mile improvement doesnt mean they are not beneficial. Cars are used for more than 1/4 mile blasts ya know . Plus, my stock DV's leaked, the forge units held. Part throttle behavior was better at higher boost levels. I recommend them.

Just make sure to keep your DVs lubricated well. The Forges on my car eventually started to stick open and cause all sorts of underboost conditions. I ended up greasing the pistons and that solved the problem.

Kind of funny, but I just had my stock DVs off this last weekend, and in a bucket of water with compressed air applied on one end. Couldnt really tell much because at the break away pressure, air goes right through them. My aircompressor regulator broke, so I couldn't adjust the pressure for proper testing. But at least with medium pressure, no bubbles appeared.
Does anyone know what are some good testing procedures, and psi numbers to refer to when checking the DVs?

Hows the sound vs. stock? I know its not a major issue and most don't care, but I'm just curious.

I know he did a leak test with the stock ones in a bucket of water.....his post is there in the archives somewhere - I have seen it before. IIRC the stock ones held up to about 30 psi of pressure from a compressor. But a more revealing test would be playing with the cracking pressure when there is a differential on the two sides of the valve.....because this would emulate part throttle conditions. I think the stock ones crack open at around a 4 psi pressure differential.....the forge probably crack open a bit higher than that which would explain why they hiss less during part throttle. Kind of makes sense when you consider the yellow springs are stiffer than stock. |

Just a little crisper with the hissing at part throttle......and sound deeper when they dump a lot of boost as you lift off from deep throttle angles. |
