JB3 1.4 is weak...

when compared to JB3 2.0!

After hearing all the great reviews and testimonies on the JB3 2.0, I had to try it for myself. At first, I was skeptical about the stories of how the JB3 2.0 is a totally different beast than the 1.4. But after the rain stopped and the road was a little dry, I gunned it and I was completely thrown back into the seat. The power deliver is superb and its buttery smooth!. I can't explain in words how great the car feels now. Even, my friends couldn't believe how much faster my 335i got with just a software update. They wouldn't believe me when I said that it was just a software update - they all thought I got other modifications.

Installation was pretty easy too. The only pain is getting the usb cable through the firewall. But, it is totally worth it because I can change to any map on the go. Also, I really like seeing which map is loaded into the car - kind of gives me a sense of security. Before, it was always "I hope i'm in map 3", but now it clearly says which map I'm in.

Overall today's experience has left 1 thing in my mind....HAIL JB3 2.0! Terry your'e a genius!

If you haven't updated your JB3 to a 2.0, YOU MUST DO IT.
If you do not have a JB3, YOU MUST GET IT!
END OF STORY!!!

Once released you will just get an update chip like usual or if you have a burner you can load it on that way. Once you have 2.x you will be able to load any future maps with your laptop if you get the optional USB interface cable.

I have 1.4 with the gen 3 board; will my boost gauge still work for map switching if I burn 2.0?

As of right now, you need to unplug the BMS gauge with 2.0. After release they plan to come up with some solution to allow you to use both.

The evo definitely has much more raw power and performance. I would say the 335i is much smoother and practical for daily driving. But I do love both

Yes, I have been told they will continue to support it.

Terry usually doesn't enable the extra features like that til it comes out of beta, but if you already have the vent gauge hooked up for map switching, there is absolutely no harm in leaving it hooked up since the rixst3r gauge doesn't use the db9 connector, it just uses 2 wires that go to the external mapswitch pins on the jb3 which are simply disabled in the beta maps.
