60-100mph testing

What's the test procedure that everyone is using? 3rd gear starting at 60mph and jump on it. Or starting earlier but only measuring the 60-100mph interval?

I start in 3rd just before 60 and punch it. the 60-100 has no shifts then which always ends up being fastest

starting earlier but only measuring the 60-100mph interval. It would be great if you could measure the 100-200 km/h interval too. we started from 60km/h at 2nd gear (M2) and WOT all the way until 200km/h. I remember hotrod said he started from 80km/h on 3rd gear and WOT all the way until 200km/h. I hope this helps...

With the 6MT's gearing I think 45-105 would be the most impressive times.

In 2nd Gear you would see 45mph @ 4500RPM

And in 3rd gear you'd be seeing 105MPH @ around 6850RPM.

So which method in the end is correct?

1 - Going a constant 60 MPH and then punching it?

or

2 - Accelerating before 60 MPH even, and then just measuring the time from 60 - 100?

There is no way anyone could consistantly compare times if you tried to start it right at 60mph. So you just accelerate through 60 as fast as your car is capable of and record the time. GPS/VBOX is the only reliable/comparable method. Most people compare 60-130 times.

If you really want to keep EVERYONE happy, you are going to have do the following (IMHO)

You should do 60-130, not 60-100... and you should start accelerating at WOT well before 60 so you are at full bore already when you hit 60.

Starting at 60 and punching it is a bad idea... not repeatable...

Oh, and go buy a Vbox...

You can use the PROcede logging at the same time as the vbox, and show everyone how accurate it is... until then, people just have to take your word for it. I just sold my vbox to Mr.5, otherwise I would have let you borrow it.

Yup, use the Vbox as the reference to compare your other readings to. Even at the track you will see the Vbox is the more stable reference from track to track. You will see that the vbox has a pretty consistant differential to a particular track's time slip, and yet that differential varies from track to track. That tells you the Vbox might be the more accurate/consistant method of measurement for comparisons on a national level.

60-130 is pretty much a standard.
I see it much more often than 60-100.

I think the reason many people use 60-100 is that it can be done without an incredibly long stretch of road and you can pretty much do it on a highway if you are careful (not saying I encourage that).

It also removes the variable of a shift ocuuring and shows only the vehicle capability.

I have a hard enough time being able to do 60-100mph runs repeatedly. I'd have to live on a runway or no care for my driving license to do repeated 60-130s pulls.
