Pink marking/paint found on ecu slider??? Help
Hey everyone,
I just got my jb3 in the mail and began unearthing the ecu box. Upon looking at the sliders and subsequently removing the one. I noticed this pink marking/paint substance. I was careful not to smudge or smear it. So is this BMW's security for ECU tampering? My cars an early 08 fyi |

Nope, I've been inside an 08 and 09 ECU box and have not seen anything like that.

I had the jackasses at the dealership do the same thing to me. I just played their own game, found what type of tamper proof paint they used and bought it. So i reseal and be done with it. I havent had to reseal and am done with dealerships so it doesnt matter but i was prepared just in case.

They put a little green swipe of it on my oil filter housing so that I can't play with that. Whatever. I just line it back up when I change the oil. I haven't had a problem with dealerships yet.

I don't see how the marking on your slider has anything to do with tamper protection. If it was meant for that it would be marked in the areas that I marked with red circles. That way they can tell if the slider has been moved.

+1 The location on the OP's pic makes little sense to me. The grabhandle is painted and that doesn't mate with any adjacent surface to seal to. How can you break a seal that doesn't exist??
