E92 335..........and an annoying rattle
My new 335 has devloped an annoying rattle around the ashtray in front of the gearstick. Sounds like its the brushed alu trim possibly where it meets the base / underside of the centre dash.
BMW have had one attempt at a fix with no success, the technician thought it sounded 'deeper' than on / from the surface. It starts only after about 20 mins of driving when the car is fully warmed. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Cheers, Harry Also, I'm going to Vegas for a holiday soon and fancy hiring something exotic for a day (car i mean!) anyone got any suggestions as to where i could try. Thanks in advance

I've rented Porsches from Rent-A-Vette a couple times, they are a solid operation. Be wary of one thing, even when you take thier super insurance option, you can often still have a deductible of $2000-$3000 if something happens to the car.
I rented a 911 Cabrio from them, and 10 mins into the Drive to Hoover Dam, the car in front of me ran over a roofing shingle that was lying in the road. It flew up, and gouged about a 2 inch hole in the front bumper of the 911. Even though I had all the insurance options, it still cost me $400 for the repair, and could have cost $1500 or more if they had to replace the bumper. I would say it's still worth it, the drive to Hoover and along the lake is excellent, and I also hear that driving up into the Red Rocks park is also stunning. Plus, rolling up to the casinos in an exotic and having the valet park your car right out front is nice too. Just be sure to read the fine print, caveat emptor. (Damaged wheels and detonated clutches are not covered by the insurance!) |

Regarding the rattle and the comments so far.
Would I be correct in assuming this is a problem area on E90's for rattles?

I have the same rattle... didn't start till 30k miles though. If you press on the right side by the ashtray cover it goes away. Taking it to the dealer on Monday and I hope for a fix as it is driving me crazy

Here's an interesting aside. When we were installing the TVNav2Go module, longtran noticed that behind the iDrive screen were two huge loose metal screws stuck to my dashboard's speaker magnet. This is the way my car came from the factory!

So is it? I really like aluminum trim, but if thats the only trim that can possible cause rattling, i can go with something else. |

I was in a friends 335i that had the dreaded rattle. It occured at 2000 RPM and yes it has aluminum trim ! My car has aluminum trim but thankfully has no trim rattle.

Ok so im guessing its confirmed now that nobody else is giving me another trim that causes rattles that only aluminum trims can possibly cause the rattle described on this thread.
