Can anyone recommend decent winter tyre/alloy package for my E90 Msport.
Since buying it about two months ago Ive got quite attached and dont want to wreck it driving to work in the snow and ice!

Get a set of 8J x 18" wheels all the way round - replicas will do for around £380 from MStyle or Elite (www.elitedirect.com)

Then stick a set of Vredestein Wintrac Extremes on in a 225/40/18 size, and voila - perfect winter wheels. Tyres available from Elite (as above)

Can I do the same for my E92 335i coupe or would I need different size wheels at the rear?

I'm happy to get cheap 17" wheels for winter period if 18" tyres aren't an option.

Thanks.

If you want some "unofficial guidance" then the German BMW site has this:

http://www.bmw.de/de/de/owners/acces...figurator.html

If you want the official line:

In relation to your query regarding the information you have acquired from the BMW Germany website, I can advise you that this information is not valid for UK specification vehicles.
I guess that UK cars have different size brakes, suspension and so on then.

I have also decided to go the winter tyre route, however in my owners manual it recommends Alpina Classics 8 x 18 offest 34 on all four alloys and 235/40 R18 95V tyres or BMW alloys 8 x 17 offest 34 tyres 225/50 R17 98V.

OK, so looking at the german website, I should get 17inch alloys with 225/45/17.

Currently have 19inch alloys on e93 (255 rear/225 front).

If I have a set of 17 inchers with winter tyres do I just swap them over or is anything else more complicated involved.

During winter months I swap 18" wheels on my E90 335i auto (255/35 and 225/40) for 17" wheels with 225/45 17 Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme winter tyres all round. As a general rule the higher the profile and narrower the tyre the better so this combination works well. You don't need to change anything provided your 17" wheels are the correct width and offset for your E93.

Red face help for someone confused

I noticed tht this question has been answered in several shapes and forms - its a pity there is no sticky with a clear answer.
Could one of you please help me with getting the right wheels.

I am planning on getting four front 8jx18 e90 mv3 alloys and fit the 225 40 18 XL winter tyres.

I currently have 255 35 18 on the back and i understand thats because i have a slightly bigger rear wheel than the front - offset ?

so can i fit four front alloys all round with no issues ?

cheers for any help

I have noticed that for winter setup the rear tyres and alloys width are the same. if you read various thread from the US and my B3 BT owners manual also say this.
