Radio and radar

Today, was driving on I-684 and V1 set off a warning of a 'Ka' band radar ahead....Had the radio on (tuned to a station), 1/2 mile later see NY state tooper on the side of the road. As I passed it, my radio went silent for 2-3 seconds then came back on. I was like huh?, my wife confirmed this at the same time.

For some reason, I think the radar beam at that point was pointed towards my car and the strong signal interfered with the radio waves reaching the antenna... has anyone experienced something like this?

The state trooper car was parked on the shoulder 2 lanes over.

Never experienced something like this, but all personal devices have to be FCC compliant (that they will not interfere with other devices). So... maybe it's possible, or maybe it's just a freak occurrence.

Um no. otherwise the troopers radio would surely not work either and who would work in a crown victoria for 12 hours a day with no music? If it had that much radiation power, it would burn the paint off the trooper hood.

That's true but also it has "may accept interference causing undesired operation"

Not sure unless there's another car around me that was using a jammer at the same time to block the radar signal?

A modern day radar gun emits about as much radiation as a television remote (albeit in a very different frequency range). I'd be more suspect of the trooper's cruiser radio (police, not music) being activated as you went by. *Those* can cause that kind of momentary interference at close range.
