removing caliper paint help?

Basically i have painted calipers on my 335 and was wondering how can i remove this?

I tried regular brake cleaner and that did not work, so i figured i should use some Aircraft Cleaner(strong paint thinner).

Will i need to bleed the brakes in order to do this? Or can i just use paint thinner on brakes with just the pads removed?

I have also heard brake fluid removes paint right off, would i be able to use this without having to take off the brake pads?

Why are you thinking of removing this mod? Just curious as I was thinking of doing this myself.

I have used an abrasive metal brush in the past and it worked like a charm.

Sam, spray it with a few coats of goo-gone and let it sit, then go over it with a wire brush. Should take it off. If not, use parts solvent,or spray it grey like the stock color.

pour some thinner over the calipers and then rub using very fine grit sandpapers... the paint should come off.... sand paper grit should be 1500... if you use rougher grits, it will leave deep gouges on the surface of the caliper.

considering this
3 things you could do:
1. Paint them black and hope your SA doesnt care.
2. Mask off the rotors and pads and use the paint remover and wire brush.
3. If you can, remove the caliper and pads (not that hard at all, if you have the tools, try the DIY), then remove the paint.

I will tell you right now that I dont think parts solvent will have any mal effects on your brake pads, etc. I occasionally clean my calipers with parts solvent.

If you just respray it silver to match stock, I doubt the dealer would ever notice.
