MT Different between ZSP and non-ZSP?

I drove an 06 325i E90 with sport package, and the transmission was different than my 07 328I E90 non-sport...it felt more precise getting into gear and didn't have the rubbery/notchy feel as in my car...is the 6MT different in the ZSP versus nonZSP or did they use different transmission in 06 versus 07? BTW, my car is Canadian and the other is US...

The transmissions are exactly the same, but the shift knobs or even the shifter may be different depending on the model and package.

If the 06 325i E90 ZSP had a short knob and/or a short shifter, it will explain the feeling you had.

So you think the shifter linkages vary between Sport and non-Sport? No difference between 2006 and 2007? The knob looked like the regular one, and "shaft" length also looked regular...the closest I can describe the shifting is similar to the Honda S2000 or the current Acura TSX...it just seemed to fall into gear without any resistance as if it was spring loaded!

It could have had a short shift kit installed. Installing the SSK doesn't necessarily require a new shifter/boot, so appearance could have been the same as stock.

But stock-for-stock from the factory, there's no difference.
